did I mess up for college? asap

I’ve had good grades till about 6,7th or 8th grade. Now I have straight C’s and 1 B, and last year was like straight D’s and 2 C’s. I really want to go out of state for college but I’’m worried I really screwed that up. Is it to late or will that affect me really bad??

It’s never to late as they say. You can always raise your grades. If you cant raise your grades, start off at a state school or a community college, get your associates and then transfer…

Okay… sounds like your in gr 10. So I’d say put a lot of effort into gr 11 & 12. Cause most uni’s and college’s will only look at your marks for those 2 years. Some wont’ even look at your gr 11 marks…

Like cambei said, try to do a lot of extracurriculars, and volunteer work. They look at that stuff as well… So if you can’t get your grades up super high, everything your involved in will give you a boost. College’s and Uni’s love active people. xD So if you have that combined with mediocre grades, you’ll be a shoe in!

And as ty said, you can transfer if you can’t get in straight away, I have a friend whos doing that and her GPA was like a 54% =S but the only thing with that is depending on the program you’ll have to maintain a higher average… for her program (nursing) I believe its a 70% so shes working her a,ss off haha.

It sounds like you’re a sophomore? You always have a chance!! The sooner you start to try and make up for things, the better off you will be. Don’t give up until it is too late! Yes since it’s high school it affects you. Talk to your counselor and ask what you can do to make up for it. Colleges like seeing a lot of extra curricular activities. Maybe join a club or sport. Try and get your driver’s license. Get a job. Anything you can do to make yourself look better will look good to colleges. If you get good grades from here on out people will assume you had a bad year, but you got considerably better. What’s more important is improvement versus straight As and Bs. The bar has been raised. If you want something, go for it. You can do anything if you really want to.
