depressed because of school

ok well sorry im asking so many questions that have to do with school. im getting depressed over it. im not even exaggerating. I took a depression screening and 20-27 meant severe depression and I got 21. im 13 years old and im already thinking of suicide. I talked to my guidance counselor and im telling her that I really want homeschooling and she says why and I said because im extremely stressed out and I already told her that I want to commit suicide but she didnt say anything else after that. people in the school are absouletly horrible to me. she offered me to move classes but I said no because that will probably make me more stressed out. I really dont want my life to end like this. I need hope or something. I only have one friend in school and a few accauntences (sorry I cant spell lol) im in 7th grade and I dont know how ill finish school. I told my mom that I want to commit suicide too and she said nothing. my dad doesnt even know because I know he’ll be pissed off and think im joking. he said to me the other day that “well, you have to finish school, so you have to get over it and snap out of it.” so im completely lost. I need help asap please!!!

I have a few bestfriends and a lot of friends but a lot of times I feel left out and just sad. but look on the bright side in a few years you’ll be out of there. just be more out going and happy, even if you have to fake it. I have been doing a lot better! hope it helps!

I used to be just like you, I hated school, I would even get sick every morning because I was soo stressed. Just try and stick threw these couple years, I did and I have no regrets…you really don’t want to miss out on high school its the time of your life, with so much to look back on. I still had trouble in 9th grade high school so I looked in to a alternative school and that’s where I went my 10th grade year, it was a tottaly different enviorment there is a lot more one on one time with teachers, and they care so much more. There also is less homework which helps keep the stress off. If it wasn’t 4 a alc I don’t think I would have finished school…school is soo important and your still so young. If there is people picking on you ignore them they probbly have a bad life themselves and need somone to pick on…I used to be that kind of person but as you grow older you become more mature and they will grow out of it. So please don’t kill yourself god put you here for a reason…you may not have found that reason yet but you will in time. There will be many people that miss you if your gone. Once your gone you don’t come back that means you never see your family or friends again. Being a teenager is very hard but when you look back at it you will wish you were there. So if you ever need someone to talk to don’t be afraid to ask me I’m here for anyone who needs help I may not be the smartest person myself but I’m willing to help others as much as I can. The best of luck to you!

You are at an age where hormones, emotions and even your brain are undergoing strong changes. It is natural to occasionally feel confused or depressed.

The best thing you can do is to talk to a counselor or therapist. Barring that, find someone you can communicate your emotions and thoughts with, sort of like a sounding board. Keeping your thoughts to yourself doesn’t help. If you can’t find someone around you then consider Fun Mailing someone on Fun Advice whose advice you like. It’s relatively private and gives you a good sounding board.

Check out the link below for information on teen depression.

Check out the Befrienders link below. They are not only a suicide hotline but also offer help to people who are stressed or are in a state of depression.

Fun Mail a “sounding board”!

I would assume that you can’t talk about what you are going through with anyone because it is too personal and you don’t want others to know about it in relation to you.

The solution, then, might be to pick someone on Fun Advice whose advice you like and Fun Mail them. (You can check out the quality of someone’s advice by clicking on their name; going down to their recent advice, click on view all, then click on the questions that might interest you and view their answers.) Explain to them that you are having problems and want to have someone to use as a “sounding board” and would like to know if they would be willing to be your sounding board. Fun Mail is basically private, so you shouldn’t have any concerns about your privacy.

Although there are many users on Fun Advice who would be qualified, I’d suggest the person be an Advisor, for two reasons: First, most Advisors have several hundred or even thousands of Answers under their belt which can really give you a perspective about them; and second, you can simply click on the Advisors link at the top of the page and view a list of the most recently active Advisors with information about them AND a total of their Answers. (Don’t contact them by that “Ask me a question” link. That’s public. Instead, click on their name which will take you to their Profile page, then click on the “Send me Fun Mail” link on the left side of the page.)

You also have the ability to Fun Mail anyone (Advisor or otherwise) by clicking on the “Send me Fun Mail” link near the top of the Answer under the person’s name.

Simply a Rose to brighten your day,         And maybe lessen the cares in your way;         And also, too, to help you to know,         That in knowing you, many others grow!
