Is it possible to not catch herpes in a long-term relationship?

Is it possible to have a long term sexual relationship with a Herpes positive partner and not get herpes yourself?

Answer #1

If your partner takes the proper drug regemine, and creams to control the flare-ups, and you never have sexual contact during a flare-up, and ALWAYS use a condom. There is a good chance that you will remain negative. But there is always a risk.

Yes, it is entirely possible. You must be with an upstanding person who knows when he/she is having an outbreak the second she feels it and will abstain from sex unbtil the outbreak clears.

Be aware that you are taking a risk regardless of how careful you are.

Don’t let it stop you from having a relationship with a person who is infected, but chances are, you will have sex in your life with someone who has it whether they know it or not anyway. So just be careful, use condoms.
