"Credit hours" is not really a measurement of hours. It's just an arbitrary value that the school assigns to their courses, a standard number for each course, with less (usually half) for courses that they think require significantly less in-class time or work.
Not necessarily, it is how many classes you "pass". Each class may carry a certain amount of credit hours per semester but you must recieve a passing grade to recieve the hours.
Yes, what onemandog said. So, say you get 10 credits for 60 hours of class. If you don't pass the class, you either don't get any or you get a limited amount. You get it?
