What can you do to convince someone not to let her sex offender boyfriend around her children?

Answer #1

if he is a sex offender i’m sure he can’t be around children

Answer #2

Convince? Forget that - call child welfare and report it. If she doesn’t care enough about her own children to keep them out of a potentially dangerous situation, then you need to step up to the plate and call the people who will do something about it.

Answer #3

I did that, but they won’t do anything because they haven’t caught him with the kids, I’m just at a loss as to what to do, I have called several times, nothing gets done

Answer #4

Is this person potentially dangerous?

Answer #5

Then call the police…as far as I know, a convicted sex offender is not allowed to be around children

Answer #6

Ok thanks

Answer #7

Let me get this straight, someone who is convicted of any sexual crime can not be around any children for the rest of their life?

Seems to me that you are commenting on a situation where you do not know any specifics Colleen.

Answer #8

That’s right anyone who is a sex offender can NEVER b around children

Answer #9

No…it’s illegal for a convicted sex offender to be unsupervised with children. I’m only assuming that because this man is her boyfriend, she does leave her children unsupervised around him…however, I do believe that it’s only in the case of sex offences against children, so it may be perfectly legal….in the end, for the protection of the children, it doesn’t hurt to call the police and find out for certain.

Answer #10

Don’t try to convice the pearson, call child services or the police.

Answer #11

My point Colleen is that you know one fact about the person in question and you are ready to storm the castle with pitchforks and torches. Remember a while back a 17 year old high school student was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison because he was taped at a party being fellated by a 15 year old girl. He is a sex offender now. In Michigan an 18 year old high school student was convicted of statutory after getting his 16 year old girlfriend pregnant. He married her but must register as a sex offender everyplace he lives for the rest of his life. Some parents are convicted of taking naked pictures of their own baby these days.

While everyone condemns sexual predators we have to avoid having a witch hunt mentality.

Answer #12

I doubt the asker would have made it a big deal if it wasn’t one. She asked a question, I gave an answer regarding the question specifically, for her to take or toss as she chooses…it’s not always required that we analyse and assess every situation for “what if’s”…it’s a general answer to a general question..point blank.

Answer #13

First of all, it depends on your state/country laws. It depends on whether they are on probation or on parole, it depends on what level they are on. And it really does depend on why the person is on the registry. You may not actually be able to do anything about it. Unless you can prove some sort of abuse, CPS can’t actually do anything. And there’s no law that says a sex offender can’t be around children. Only laws about where they can live and work. If they weren’t allowed around children at all they’d have to live on a deserted island with each other. Seriously, where exactly aren’t there children? Apart from bars?
