How can I convince my mom to let me pierce my ears?

Well I’m sixteen about to be seventeen soon in like three months and I asked my mom if I could get my ears peirced and she said no cause it’ll ruin my looks. And I said its my body and lots of boys are getting their ears peirced now a days. I don’t even want guages well mayb fakes but not real ones. How can I convince her to let me get my ears peirced and I’m a only child so I’m kinda like her baby etc. Please help

Talk to her about this in a mature way when she’s in an awesome mood. Explain to her that getting your ears pierced is a way of self-expression that harms no-one, and would make you feel more confident in yourself. Tell her you’ll still be the same person on the inside, and plus, it’s not a very dramatic piercing. Offer doing more chores around the house as a last resort. Or, make a deal. For example, if you get all A’s on your next report card, she’ll let you get your ears pierced. Again, be mature. Don’t whine or anything! You can also show her pictures online of decent-looking guys with their ears pierced.

Well, when you can spell..pierce …I’m sure that’ll change your mum’s opinion.

Your mum is probably set in her ways, I’m sure you’ll just have to wait. You can offer to pay for the piercings, maybe that’ll soften her. It’s act of responsibility.

Ask her maturely, why she feels you should not. Most parents freak out when you mention any body art and think you will totally turn in to some bush person and come home with your neck in a ring. I found that one can argue for yourself if you have logical reasons to why you want them pierced, mention that all cultures do it and in no means does it define your personality, but instead is a tool to aid you in feeling good about yourself. If she comes back with some lame reason like you are not old enough, remind her nicely that infants are having it done and at any time if you decide you no longer want the hole, take out the earring and the hole closes.
