I need a computer that is really good with wifi. Any suggestions? Not apple

Answer #1

Dell?

Answer #2

Lenovo laptops are all the rage, around 700 bucks for a laptop with HD capable graphics (so you can play the latest games on them, even Black ops 2) and they have wi-fi so yeah

Answer #3

Here’s the link for Lenovo.

If you’re on a Desktop PC, you could simply buy a decent Wifi card for a PCI x1, x16, or PCI slot and just use your network through the card.

If you have a laptop, the same can be done with a USB dongle or an ExpressCard slot.

If you’re dead set on getting another computer, then I would recommend Toshiba, Dell, and ASUS as they’re always cheap with good-excellent quality on most models. For PCs, I’d always recommend building one from scratch if you can because it’s usually $100+ cheaper than buying pre-built.

Answer #5

I need a new one, I’ve been 5 years with the one I have and the mouse is barely working, it’s not finding wifi and when it does it gos off or it’s really slow when it’s not the same with other computers and even though I clean the fan it’s still getting very very hot when I use it. I was between Toshiba or Sony, I thought asus were expensive, aren’t they?

Answer #6

I know you said no apple. But if you want something that “just works”, there is really no competition.

I’m a super-geek, uber-nerd, but I got tired of messing with Windows settings, Linux desktops and all of that. I simply wanted to do my work. So I switched to Apple desktops and laptops around 8 years ago.

Now I don’t worry about viruses, configurations, twiddling dials and settings… or wireless.

I just do my work on a tool. My Apple computer.

Answer #7

no ASUS is quite cheap when you know where to look….

Answer #8

I have nothing against apple, in fact, i love it haha but when it comes to college it’s not the best choice, people who have it at my university are constantly having compability problems and I don’t want to buy one if I’m going to have them too. I need one that’s not too heavy so I can carry it around but also lets me to everything and also have a good sound system if possible

Answer #9

Not to sound argumentative but since OS X is limited to specific hardware you can’t really change anything…. not to mention the latest limitations to applications… but to each his own :)
