College or start a family?

Me and my boyfriend have pretty much decided to get married right after I graduate high school. He starts college this year when I go to school. Lately I don’t know what I want to do anymore. I had a plan, go into the Navy and go to college through that to become a marine biologist. But now that I’ve met him, he turned my whole life around. I don’t know now if I even want to go to college. I was thinking of starting a family, having a baby, and be a mom. It sounds good. I’m just not sure now. Does anyone have some good advice? I know school is important, and I’m young and I have my whole life ahead of me, but I really want to get started on a family.

You can always start a family, but going back to school after you already have a family is near impossible… What happens if your relationship doesnt work out? I know you cant ever imagine a divorce, but almost 50% of marriages end up in divorce, what happens if your husband gets sick, or is unable to work (or heaven forbid dies?). You need to be able to take care of yourself, and education is the best way to do that…

Wow…Ok, well I would advise you go to college, because sometimes after having children, college becomes harder to do, and gets put on the back burner, an education is important, and so is family…so this is why you must prioritze, go ahead and choose the education, because sometimes it is something you wish you would have never given up.. :D

Frankly, it kind of sounds like you’ve already made your mind up and now you’re just looking for validation on your decision. So I’ll say this – there’s a good chance you’re going to look back on this passed-on chance to have such a wide range of experiences and regret it. You will never, ever have the freedom to learn and explore that you will right at this moment.

You know I’ll love you regardless, because I’m the boyfriend of which you speak, and starting a family sounds awesome to me and all, but how will not going to school fly with the parents? I mean I know your going to be 18 soon and it’s your decision, I’d love you to be a Mommy full time, but what if you decide you want to get a job later on?

I love you!
