There is chewing gum in my carpet. I don't know when it happened, but I really want to remove it.
Does anyone have a way that it can be removed quickly, without damaging the carpet?
An old tried and trusted way is to use ice. Rub ice cubes on the gum - it will freeze and crumble into small frozen pieces which are easy to lift off. However, the ice tip for removing chewing gum is best for items of clothing that you can place in the freezer overnight. It can a bit messy and damp on a carpet - but with patience it does work.
If you carpet has a longer pile the ice cubes will not be so effective. In that case use a hair-dryer to melt the chewing gum. You will then be able to pull lengths of sticky gum away one at a time. When you have got rid of most of the gum in a longer pile carpet - the ice cube tip might just finish the job nicely.
Finally, commercial carpet stain removers will also dissolve the gum. As with the other two methods patience is needed. Apply a little at a time with a brush and rub gently until pieces of gum gradually come off the carpet.
petro oil just a little bit of it and your work will be done, just you need to apply in that affected area and rub with your finger gently after removin it wash that part with good smeling detergine.
You should try and freeze it if possible. It isn't going to be an easy task.
Stick an ice pack on it for an hour then just it will be easier to pick out.
Perhaps trying freezing it so you can chip it off?
