Cat owners need to learn to keep their cats indoors where they are safe.
He knows where he lives. If he can come home, he will when he's ready, but if you care about your cat you won't let him outside anymore.
Not only are there many dangers, cats are a menace to a neighbourhood. They tear up people's gardens and garbage and urinate on people's property. If you don't have enough concern for your cat, then at least show a little consideration for your neighbours.
