How soon after a cartilage piercing can you swim?

Some of my friends from a different state are visiting us next week and we all want to get our cartilage pierced…but the next day we’d be going to a water park. Is this unsafe? How soon after a cartilage piercing can you swim? I’m on a swim team and we swim year round…does this mean I’d never be able to get my cartilage pierced? Thanks in advance.

You should be able to, the only thing you may run into is that the chlorine and bacteria from the water could irritate it and cause you to get an infection easier. If you clean it well after you get out, you should be fine… It takes about 4 months for the piercing to heal completely so as long as you clean it throughly after you get out of the pool, you should be able to get one….Hope I Helped!

yup

Alright so when I got the piercing they told me it would be completely healed after 6 months, but it wasnt. I tried switching earrings and it closed up immediately and started bleeding whenever I tried putting it back in. 6 months is NOT long enough, let alone 4 months. so my guess is dont swim if you dont think its completely healed, which it probably isnt.

You can swim whenever just make sure you clean your ear piercing when you get out so it doesnt get infected or irrated from the chlorine.
