By the way beth.Dear,Blu-Ray is a High Defenition movie formatted disc,not a game disc.
PS3 plays DVD,DVD-HD and Blu-Ray,too.
Blu-ray beats DVD’s picture any day though! :)
If you bought your system before November 08 or if you bought it used,then it should play PS2 games.The newer models are not backwards compaitble,exception being the 120G on the market now and the Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition PS3 that included the game with the system.
