Are the cameras, like cannon and nikon, still good and high quality coming from places like K-mart and Walmart?

I would recommend Best Buy for any electronic purchase. I bought my Nikon there a few months ago and was given the option of Black Tie Insurance. Black tie includes 2 free cleanings in one year and also insures your camera if it is lost or has any damages.

Both Canon and Nikon make a wide range of cameras. Both make models ranging from inexpensive amateur cameras all the way up to professional models costing $thousands. You can’t shop for cameras based on brand name alone. If you buy into an interchangeable lens camera than you would obviously stick with that brand so all your gear is compatible but if you are getting a point-and-shoot or bridge camera this isn’t a concern. If you have a budget for a camera than you should look at models in your price range, decide what features are important to you, then after narrowing it down try out each camera. Canon and Nikon make many fine cameras but so do Pentax, Olympus, Sony, Panasonic and Fuji.

Only TwiddleMuffin answered my question, really. I didn’t ask about models or anything, I was simply asking if the cameras from K-mart or something were the same as the ones from Best Buy or if they’re like knock-offs.

If the model numbers are the same, they should be the same camera.
