What to do about my boy friend wanting to go into the Army?

He wants to go and i told him i would support him the whole way. im just so nevous because what he wants to do is so dangerous, he is my everything. i just dont know what i will do for a year without him.

Answer #1

you support him. Think about what an AMAZING and BRAVE boyfriend you have, to take on such a hard job ! tell him you have confidence in HIM and you will be with him every step of the way. This is really either going to make or break your relationship. Be strong, both of you :]

Answer #2

My Step dad was in the army. I think its great to serve. I always wanted to join the Air Force but medical reasons made that imposable. My best friends dad was in the army as well. He was adopted while his dad was serving in Japan. It can be hard to have a relationship while one or the other is serving but it is possible if you work at it!

Answer #8

Be proud of him and be there for him all the way. Like Irene said, you should support his decision! Honestly, it’s going to be difficult emotionally, but I’m sure you’re really proud of him and admire his bravery for doing this willingly. (:

Answer #9

He wants to go into the army and he looked into them all and thats the one he wants. i just think that its going to be so hard. i know i can do it. its just most of the reveiws are bad

Answer #10

Be proud of him for starters. He’s making a big decision in his life that will literally change him forever. Make sure, he’s doing it for himself and not for you, because if you break up for any reason, he’ll take it heavily to his heart.

Also, he’s going to be gone for only 2 months in boot camp and he’ll be back shortly. Try to think of the boot camp time as a way to express your emotions on pen and paper to him. Know that he’s becoming someone stronger for the both of you.

When he deploys it will be for 12 months. Those 12 months will seem like 12 days if you focus more on yourself and not on him. The more you miss him, the more stressful you’ll become and that’s bad for you. The best thing you can do is support him and send him letters. Don’t be upset if a letter doesn’t come to you every week, they use snail mail not e-mail.

Also, when you talk to him, don’t tell him about YOUR problems because chances are, he’s in a hell worse than you. He doesn’t need to be stressed about your safety on top of his and his squad’s safety. It’s better to tell him you miss him and to come home soon instead of talking about a car accident you had.

Is he positive he wants a combat position? Not everyone is mentally tough so if he isn’t ready to kill a person or be yelled at, then he will likely get booted. I’m joining the Marines so I know what I’m talking about. Try to convince him to take a safer position like data or linguistics.
