Who were Bonnie and Clyde and why are they famous?

Answer #1

Notorious would be a better word than famous. Bonnie and Clyde were gangsters, bank robbers and murderers during the gangster era of the early 1930’s. They got away so often and a nation wide manhunt for them took place along with other gangsters at the time. Bonnie and Clyde were also lovers. They were finally shot to death when a certain FBI agent ( I think) or it could have been a county sherriff, anyway found out they would be passing through a certain area and staged an ambush with people hiding in the brush along the side of the road. They opened fire on them, riddled the car and Bonnie and Clyde with bullets.

Answer #2

Also, Bonnie Parker was a bit of a poet who’s poems were published during their crime spree. Bonnie and Clyde to some were folk heroes; the 30’s like today was an era where banks were not loved and robbing them seemed justified. After some bad press after murders in Grapevine TX public sentiment turned against them.

Answer #3

Good point. I wanted to talk about the bank thing and the great depression but didn’t want to make my answer too long. It was all before the FDIC and people hated banks. But you know, at the same time those two killed innocent people.

Answer #4

A group too often glamorized. They should make the criminals a guy and a tomboy haha But to answer your question, they were two criminals from the 1930s the subject of a 1967 movie.
