Is it possible for Birth Control to LOWER hormone levels?

I know that Birth Control pills do affect hormone levels, but I thought it raised your hormone levels, as in made you want sex MORE. This is exactly the opposite for my girlfriend, she says she thinks her Birth Control is making her want sexual interaction LESS. Is she just trying to avoid it? Or could she be right? What’s your opinion?

high hormone levels dont always mean the female wants more coitus…. there are infinite amount of cases where the estrogen in BC pills will cause a change in the females receptive state….what that means is she may not like your pheromones thus creating a lack of “lust” or sex drive….

my suggestion is she gets off the pill, as long as she takes the pills she will not be in the mood……

Birth control usually affects hormone levels in the more emotional department. I’ve had friends who said they’d cry for no reason or be really angry. I’m on a low level hormone birth control and I haven’t seen any changes in my hormone levels. Tell your girlfriend to switch to a lower level birth control, the amount of hormones doesn’t affect how well it works.
