How long until I can swim after a naval piercing?

I just got my navel pierced a little over 2 weeks ago, how long do I have to wait to be able to go swimming in my pool?

Answer #1

dear belly button piercers,

I recomend about a month until you get into anyway ocean, or salt water pools. After getting in any salt water areas make sure you clean it with cotton swobs and your local cleanser. if you would wish to get in any sooner then a month you must be very careful and make sure you clean it very thouroughly. good luck with your piercings!

Swimming helped me. Just make sure you clean it when you get out :)

Hi!

Piercers recommend you wait a month after your piercing to go swimming in chlorinated pools. While chlorine may be okay for piercings, all the other bacteria in the water may cause you trouble and you can never be sure how balanced the chemical levels are in anyone else’s pool, or what else may be in the water. More than anything, you will want to make sure that you clean your piercing afterwards. If you can’t get to some antibacterial soap and water, try keeping a bottle of Ear Care, Bactine or saline with you to squirt it off afterwards.

Definitely think twice before going in any hot tubs, oceans, quarries or lakes, where the water quality may be even more questionable.

Good luck with the piercing!

I went to marcs tattooing and they told me I hadda wait 6 months to go swimming cause the inside still has to heal and the chlorine will dry it out and can cause it to migrate. I would trust them because theyre reliable and know what theyre talking aboutt. also dont use peroxide or antibiotic ointment or anyting to clean it cause that will kill good/new skin cells. either use the h20 ocean spray or make your own salwater solution (:

Answer #5

my piercer told me 3-4 weeks to be safe but you an at any time just make sure you clean it before and after

Answer #6

yea, you have waited for a good amount of time….chlorine has healing chemicals in it. I swam shortly after and it helped it heal sooner.

Answer #7

u can start swimming when you see the inside of it white . if its still pink then dont swim . I got mine june 2nd and went swimming with it during the same month.
