If you a member of a religion but don't believe some of the things people in that religion are ''supposed'' to believe in..are you still really part of that religion? or are you sinful ? or is it blasphemy or something? O.o
Well depending on who you ask you will get different answers. I, myself are somewhat like you. I am Christian but I do not believe everything the Catholic church says at all. I just do not believe that there is any way shy of us can know or understand the intention and meaning behind each passage, I mean, people keep trying to interpret this passage or that but as with literatureor pipoetry, interpretations differ and are subjective. Personally, I think religion need to move forward as time goes. I suppose plenty Christians would say I am a sinner or whatever. However, I do still try top be the best person I can. And I try to follow the most important one, love everyone. I think in the end, whatever religion you are, whatever beliefs it holds, its all down to being a good person and caring for one another.
I was raised Catholic also. Many of the Old Testament stories I don't believe. Particularly that God needed a rib and mud to make a woman. Also the magical tree and the talking snake, I don't believe in those. Another one I don't believe are the guy that lived inside a fish and the Ark packed with millions of animals.
Out of the Catholic religion, I think is weird that they have other deceased good humans that they call Saints and that they pray to and make images from to carry with You like in a medal or something.
yeah i think you are right..that you don't have to believe everything in the bible to learn the lessons from them or be a good person:)
