Are there any Gay Christians?

can Christians be gay?

Answer #1

“The sin of Sodom and Gomorrah and the reason why God destroyed it, was indeed, their homosexual lifestyle.”

Where in the passage does it say God destroyed the cities because of their homosexual lifestyle? And how would you explain the verses in Ezekiel which say specifically that God destroyed them because they neglected the needy?

The lesson in the story would be the social injustice of the cities, not their homosexual behavior. And as toadaly points out, the word originated in the 13th century…it wasn’t even used in the Bible until the KJV in the 17th century.

Answer #2

I’m sure there are a few. I wouldn’t call them Christians tho. What I would call them isn’t printable here.

Answer #3

iimahl said “I see homophobia is alive and well…

Homophobia is a nasty little word homosexuals decided to place on Christians or anybody who disagrees with their lifestyle, which isn’t a phobia at all. Christians will always stand for God’s truths.

God Himself said we should know them by their fruits, meaning their words, deeds and actions. The lifestyle of the practicing homosexual is and “enormous sin” an abomination to our Creator, who made woman for man, not same sex. God does not make sin. That lifestyle is a choice. The Bible is very clear on this subject.

toadly said “Quoting hateful nonsense in the Bible to promote uncivil behavior will tend to result in uncivil behavior in response.”

Nothing in God’s holy Word is ‘hateful nonsense”. The Bible is God’s holy word and if it says that the homosexual lifestyle is an abomination unto the Lord, then that is exactly what it is.

People have always rebelled against truth, so does this mean we should hide the truth under a bushel so nobody can see it and be inconvenience by it? NO! The truth must be kept right out in front where all can see it and if they want to speak out against it that is their problem. God will deal with them, we won’t have to.

Christians will continue to stand up for God’s truths no matter what happens. God says “vengeance is Mine saith the Lord” AMEN!

Answer #4

The holy word of God, the Bible says that the homosexual lifestyle is an abomination against the Lord, which means it is an enormous sin.

Leviticus 18:22 “Homosexuality is absolutely forbidden, for it is an enormous sin.”

But, if a homosexual decides to stop living that lifestyle and turns to God, he can go to heaven. If he doesn’t stop doing that lifestyle he will be destroyed in the Lake of Fire at Jesus Christ’s second coming.

What does the Bible teach about practicing homosexuality? Romans 1:26-27, NIV. “Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.”

Can a practicing homosexual go to heaven? It’s in the Bible, I Corinthians 6:9, TLB. “Don’t you know that those doing such things have no share in the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who live immoral lives, who are idol worshippers, adulterers or homosexuals—will have no share in his kingdom.”

God wants His children to turn from sin and follow Him.

Answer #5

And I quote: Rom 1:25-32 for that they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. (26) For this cause God gave them up unto vile passions: for their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature: (27) and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working unseemliness, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due. (28) And even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up unto a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting; (29) being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity; whisperers, (30) backbiters, hateful to God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, (31) without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, unmerciful: (32) who, knowing the ordinance of God, that they that practise such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but also consent with them that practise them.

I think verse 27 pretty much covers it. Who has the right to call God uncivil?

Answer #6

There is nothing wrong with being gay. who you are attracted to doesn’t have to be suppressed by gender. religioin just provokes people to judge others.

Answer #7

Its not against the religion to be gay its against some sections of christianity to be gay. The Catholics do not aprove, and the Anglicans are split. I’m not sure about the other divisions…

Answer #8

The word ‘sodomy’ is taken from the town of Sodom and the lifestyle there…meaning homosexuality.

Answer #9

The Bible does not say that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of homosexuality.

Biblically, fornication is condemned more often than homosexuality, so why then, do fundamentalists tend to condemn gays rather than fornicators? We both already know why.

Answer #10

toadly don’t put words in my mouth. Of course that is not true. Nobody is perfect, no not one!

Being a Christian is different than ‘saying’ that you are a Christian. I’ll explain…

When a person loves God it is his desire to do everything in his power to become closer to God. He seeks God’s face out of love and the deep conviction of his need for the Lord in his life.

Studying the Holy Word, the Bible daily, praying, following God’s laws, loving God first, others second, and putting self last is part of what the true follower of God is like. It does not mean he is perfect (nobody is perfect except God), but willing to do as God wants (our desires will be like His) to grow closer to God.

If a person claims to be a Christian but continues unchanged in their behavior, then that person is not a true follower of God. It is by their fruits that ye shall know them.

There are homosexuals who have given up their lust for same sex relationships when they gave their hearts to God out of their deep love for our Creator. These God will strengthen and bless, but those homosexuals who have convinced themselves that the homosexual lifestyle is not sinful and that they are Christians anyway…they’ve bought into Satan’s lie.

Answer #11

The sin of Sodom and Gomorrah and the reason why God destroyed it, was indeed, their homosexual lifestyle.

Genesis 19

Sodom and Gomorrah Destroyed 1 The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. 2 “My lords,” he said, “please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.”

"No," they answered, "we will spend the night in the square."

3 But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate. 4 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. 5 They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”

6 Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him 7 and said, “No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing. 8 Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don’t do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.”

9 “Get out of our way,” they replied. And they said, “This fellow came here as an alien, and now he wants to play the judge! We’ll treat you worse than them.” They kept bringing pressure on Lot and moved forward to break down the door.

Answer #12

You need to read the whole chapter mjax79. . . and here it states exactly what the destruction was for. “just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire. “ (Jud 1:7)

Answer #13

silverwings, most of what you said I agree with, but “We are to help one another, we are to confess our sins, and ourshort comings, one to another, we are not to condemn, or judge, we are to love, teach and pray, one for another”.

this statement above. The Bible tells us that we know them by their fruits. If someone is a practing homosexual we know by his/her fruits that he/she is living in sin. Of course we need to befriend them and if they are seeking God we are to help them to know Him.

It does not good to try to tell someone about God who isn’t interested.

Answer #14

love is love end of story

and idc what the bible says… god will never judge one for whom they love

Answer #15

Of course there are. Why wouldn’t there be?

Just because most christians think it is a sin does not mean they don’t exist. They exist every where in every social-econmic, religious, or political group.

That is why it is so silly and futile for people to rail against them. They exist now, have always existed, and will always continue to exist.

Answer #16

It states in the Bible that Homosexuallity is an abomination to God, So to Call yourself a gay christian is a mockery of God’s written word.

Answer #17

Sure there are a lot of homosexuals around, but they are not Christian unless they refrain from the practice of the homosexual lifestyle.

Answer #18

known Fornicators are disfellowshiped. . . Same as Homosexuals. God Killed one of the sons of Judas for spilling his seed upon the ground and condemded fornicators to be stoned to death under the law of Moses.. . . All sin true but for the Christian it should be understood that salvation is lost for continual and willful sin. . . As my ol’ Uncle use to say being a christian will not get you into heaven, not all of them will make it. . .

Answer #19

Sodom and Gomorrah weren’t destroyed because of homosexuality.

Ezekiel 16:49-50 explain why those cities were destroyed. It was because of their lack of concern for the poor and unwillingness to help the hungry. Basically it was social injustice.

I think if you really read the Bible, you’ll see that apparently God is far more concerned with social injustice than he is with homosexuality.

Why Christians today are not is beyond me.

Answer #20

Fair question. The homosexual lifestype is a sin that is an abomination unto the Lord. As anybody knows some sins are worse than others.

For example. A little man steals a car…a sin, right? Yes.

A man rapes and murders a child…a much worse sin, right? Yes. They will both go to hell if they do not repent of their sins.

God says: “Is practicing homosexuality a sin? It’s in the Bible, Leviticus 18:22, TLB. “Homosexuality is absolutely forbidden, for it is an ENORMOUS sin.”

Most homosexuals do not believe their lifestyle is a sin, but they are gravely mistaken.

Answer #21

* “Who has the right to call God uncivil?”

…anyone who wants to has the right. When will you learn that Christians are the only ones who much care what the New Testament says, and not even all Christians consider Paul to speak inerrantly for God.

Quoting hateful nonsense in the Bible to promote uncivil behavior will tend to result in uncivil behavior in response.

Answer #22

* “Nothing in God’s holy Word is ‘hateful nonsense’. “

I would expect you to say no less, but surely you are capable of recognizing that not everyone considers the Bible to be the word of a god.

To me, it’s nothing more than an ancient collection of writings, often reflecting the barbaric nature of the times in which it was written, and frequently causing otherwise civilized people to adopt the barbarism of those ancient days.

Answer #23

no its against the religion to be gay

Answer #24

calling yourself a christian who wants to deny the civil rights of people who happen to be gay is a mockery of civil society.

Answer #25

*“ Sure there are a lot of homosexuals around, but they are not Christian unless they refrain from the practice of the homosexual lifestyle.”

Those are your words Orion, not mine. I didn’t put any words into your mouth.

Is it possible to ‘sin’ and still be a Christian? If so, then what is so special about the ‘sin’ of homosexuality that prohibits those who practice it from being Christians?

Answer #26

ombomb All who repent are forgiven but they are required to leave the life of Sin behind them. . . if we continue to sin willingly then we lose the Grace of God And Toadaly the Question is dealing with Christian principals not worldly ones. . .

Answer #27

Answer #33

Answer #34

To be a Christian is to be a believer in his word, his spirit, and his way. It does not mean that we are perfect, in fact, none of us are perfect. Jesus said, that there are none perfect, except the Father in Heaven.

We are all a work in progress. We are all at a different stage of our spiritual development. We are all saved by faith.

Faith is a progressive work. Some are delivered instantly from certain sins, but, not all, we are left to work on some of those sins on our own, with his help.

When I first came to the Lord, I was instantly delivered of the desire for alcohol. I had consumed quiet a bit but, no longer had a desire or a need for it. However, I did not get set free from nicotene. I had to work at that.

I also had to deal with a spirit of lust that attacked me along the way. Anger too, is something that I have had to wrestle with.

Was I a Christian in the middle of all of that? Yes. Why? Because of the faith that was within me. Was God holding me. Yes. Was he working with me. Yes. Did he demand that I be clean, all at once. No. Is it any different for anyone esle. No.

That is why he tells us to not judge. We do not know the whole story. We cannot look into someones heart, and know what is there. God can and does.

When we first come to Christ as our Savior, change starts. It continues thruout our entire lives. We grow little by little in him. In his promises. In his strength. In his timeing. We learn to lean on him, and to allow him to have more of us, as we are able.

None of us are totally submitted to him. We all have issues that we are working on. Jesus said, if we think we are without sin. We are deceived.

The Holy Spirit shines his light into dark areas of our lives, putting his finger on things that he wants us to work on. None are emempt.

Repentance is a hard work. Certain things are harder to overcome than others. My heart goes out to anyone that is wrestling with a homosexual spirit. It would be, in my thinking one of the hardest things to have to deal with, because you are fighting your own body, mind, will and emotions. It is hard to fight yourself (or what you think to be self).

To overcome this, one would certainly need the support and love, and help and prayers of all the bretheren. It would be almost impossible to do otherwise.

Sinful evil spirits inhabit the human spirit, crippling it, degrading it, and confusing it. The only way to get free from these spirits is thru the power of God. Thru the power of the Holy Spirit living within. We cannot do this on our own.

When God accepts us, and starts the work of regeneration in our lives, he takes on everything that we are. He knows what is within us, and what it will take for us to be free. He accepts the burden of that.

When we accept his sacrifice, Jesus Christ, as our payment in full for our sins, we are then covered by his sinless blood. When God looks at us, he no longer sees us, and our sins, he sees the blood of Jesus.

What does that mean?

It means that we have been accepted into his kingdom, that we came to see and know and understand that we have fallen short of perfection, that we have all sinned, according to Gods requirements and expectations, that he is holy and pure, righteous and just, and that he has a way, and a plan laid out for each of us.

He left instructions, for us to follow. Then, he left us, to see what we would do with those instructions.

Once we are enlightened, we are to teach and train others. We are to offer what we have received. We are to learn how to walk worthy of the Savior that purchased us back to himself, from that place of disobedience that we had fallen into.

We are to seek his power in overcoming those things that are within us, that are contrary to his word, his will and his way.

We are to help one another, we are to confess our sins, and ourshort comings, one to another, we are not to condemn, or judge, we are to love, teach and pray, one for another.

Answer #35

Plus, there is no other sin recorded in the Bible that God destroyed cities over like He did because of the lifestyle homosexuals; Sodom and Gomorrah

Answer #36

…and no-one else who commits “sin” is a Christian either, right orion?

Apparently, there are no Christians.

Answer #37

Yes toadly, I know how you think and that is between you are the Lord, but as for me, I shall follow God.
