How to get my 4 month old on a schedule?

My baby is finally 4 months & about to begin eating solids… yet he’s not on a schedule because I can’t seem to get him used to one! Any advice ???

Answer #1

I’m so glad you asked this question becuase I have a four month old also and it’s so incredibly hard to get him on a schedule!

Answer #2

if you give him a pacifier and rock him and make sure it stays in his mouth and pat his back that should work. thats how my son goes to sleep.

Answer #3

have you tried the the lavender oil bath wash ?? lavender makes you sleepy as well as being great for headaches. I would try getting him bathed earlier than 7.30 if posible. it may just be that he is over tired by the time you are trying to get him to sleep. when they are over tired its harder to get them down. try it it might work !!

Answer #4

I’ve tried lavander bath… lotion.. even the johnsons lavander baby massage gel that they have ! lol it just doesn’t seem to have an effect on him

ok well the is on a very good start for his age my son is almost 7 months and he I still have to break him out of hi own ways they hate being put to sleep. lol try about 2-3 tablespoons of rice cereal for his last bottle that should weight his belly down and make him sleeply enough to make it harder for him to fight you at bed time lol

It is sooo hard to get a baby on a schedule but if you can master it, it is just great. a lot of times they will get themselves on a scedule. Like eating every 2 hours and things like that. Remember that all babies are different, some sleep every few hours and some do not sleep during the day at all. The best way is to try to start going longer for feedings. If the baby feeds every 2 hours and you want every 4 hours, then slowing add time before you feed them. Like add 15 minutes. Also all babies are different, pick a time during the day, like 2 pm and take the baby in a quiet and somewhat dark room, lay down with them perferably with a bottle and spend like 30 minutes or an hour each time in there even if they do not go to sleep. My grand daughter will not go to sleep when the television is on or bright lights are on. Good luck

well he sleeps 6-8 hours at night once I finally GET him to sleep !! && he stays awake all day, just one nap at noon .. he just has trouble getting to sleep at a certain time, you know like I feed him his last bottle & give him a bath at about 7:30 && I’ve been doing this for about a month now, It just seems like he can’t get to sleep at the same time every night – he gets it sometimes I’m just having a little trouble helping him actually get to sleep !

Answer #11

how long can he stay sleep for at a time their are steps you have to take to get him on a schedule first look at the paterrn that he has no and minipulate it if he sleeps more durn the day then you make him stay up more so that at night he is not up because those little cat naps they take really interfear with how well he will sleep that night I no you love when you get a little break lol when he naps but you have to keep him up as much as you can durn the day

Answer #12

consistencey is the key. some kids will take quick and some won’t. keep trying. dont force him remember he is growing and may want food when his body wants food. good luck

Answer #13

putting some rice cereal in the milk is a good idea… we did that with the kids we babysat… but this was at night time, not during the day. We never rocked them to sleep, but we put them down drowsy and they just went to sleep on their own! These are kids that even their parents had trouble putting them to bed. So the rice cereal in the milk does work because they feel full.

Answer #14

if your starting him on solids make sure its not too much you give him, he will sleep like a log after you start him though.
