Anti-Social Crisis: How do I make friends and enjoy it?

Ah…the burden of my life…friends. They piss me off. no matter what friend I make I get sick after spending time with them after a while cause they always pick on me and don’t understand my point of view and I don’t get theirs either. So I’d rather spend time being on my own. I don’t talk in class, I come home after school, I spend my weekends visiting my local farm and helping out and horseback riding. I like this lifestyle…but I look at the people having parties on Saturday nights and I get sort of jealous. How could they make such good friends and get invited to parties and have social connections? And how do they enjoy it? How do I start making new true friends and being a bit more social…and enjoy it?

I think you first need to make friends with people who have something in common with you. Be it games, horseback riding, books, movies, whatever. Get something that connects you guys together.

By the way, there will always be a lot of politics and stuff among some friends. Those people who gather to party? - They’re probably putting their disagreements aside just to have fun for the night. But yes, groups of great friends do exist, and it takes a lot of understanding and socialization to get to know each other so much that they start to feel like they are family.

Like any relationship, there are a lot of give and takes that need to be done. You can’t just judge people off the bat either. You might find one day a bunch of people who totally sync with you.

Also, a lot of people pretty much forget their school friends after they graduate, because a lot of them aren’t mature enough or were close enough with you to have a long lasting bond. You may keep in touch with a friend or two, but as you grow older, you change interests and gain other interests, and that’s where you can make friends along the way..
