After getting braces do they whiten your teeth ?

One of my friends had braces for like 2 years or something and once she got them off her teeth were really yellow :(. And im getting braces soon so I was hoping that after I get them off, would they whiten my teeth? And do you have to be a certain age to get your teeth whitened or something?

Answer #1

no that proubly happened becasue your friend never brushed his teeth if you have braces just keep brushing your teeth and they will proubly get more whiten Good Luck!

Answer #2

After I got my braces off I bought a 400 dollar whitening kit called NiteWhite! It works for about 30 times-instead of just one and it works better than actual whitening!

Answer #3

obviously your friend had bad hygene, I thought that after I had my braces off the color thet had glue on it would be really yellow, but I took good care of them and they were really white

Answer #4

Just make sure you brush them really good everyday and after meals and you’re teeth will look fine after you get them off. I had braces and my teeth were fine after. There are whitening strips you can get that help whiten your teeth.

Answer #5

When I got my braces off my teeth were super white! Your friend probly never brushed her teeth. (ew)

Answer #6

you don’t have to be a certain age to whiten your teeth.. but they won’t do it on you for free when you get your braces off.. and to get the procedure done you don’t go to the orthodontist.

when I got my braces off my teeth were actually much whiter then I ever expected them to be.. maybe your friend just didn’t take care of her teeth

Answer #7

I have braces right now and my teeth have a natural yellow tint to them. I have tried everything but it just makes it worse. The only thing I can say to you is not to do ANYTHING until they take them off. I promise you they will look better when they come off. I have jacked my teeth up by using whitening crap. Just brush 3 times a day for 1 or 2 minutes with non whitening toothpaste. You could whiten your teeth before you get your braces also though. Have FUN getting braces. They dont hurt actually. People said they hurt to me and I was freaked when I got the braces. Just dont eat a lot of hard things for 1 week or 5 days. -Ashe Gillian from South Caroline

Answer #8

they clean your teeth so theres no squares on your teeth in the end which witens them a bit.

BRUSH your TEETH WITH BAKING SODA TO GET OUT STAINS! iTS SAFE AND EFFECTIVE!!!

Answer #9

when they put the brackets on, your teeth are whatever color they are…when you eat especially starchy foods like bread and pasta and stuff like that, you get plaque and stuff on your teeth. well, you have the brackets covering the part of your teeth, so naturally that part wont faulter in color, it should stay the same color.. if you brush and floss properly then your teeth will be fine. but if you want to whiten them I would mix 1/3 of hydrogen peroxide with 2/3 of luke warm water and rinse your teeth DO NOT SWALLOW!!! yeah I have braces too and I have really weak teeth so I won’t tell you bullcrap.. there is a bunch of stuff I got to do to keep them white

Answer #10

They definitly won’t help you whiten your teeth after you get braces off. They expect you to do a good job brushing while you have them on. It is your responsibility to keep your teeth clean while you have braces on. Your friend must have had bad hygene and didn’t brush her teeth often so her teeth were yellow.

Answer #11

Well I have braces too, and honestly I wouldn’t listen to the “bad hygiene” critics, because I had really white teeth before my braces, and I brush twice a day, and sometimes use baking soda. And my teeth are still yellow. Because the braces get in the way of you brushing it effectively, it is not your or your friends fault for “bad hygeine”. If you had put so much time and effort in taking care of your braces, and you take them off after 2 or more years and they are yellow, then why not get them whitening? After all didnt you get the braces for a perfect smile? NOT A YELLOW SMILE!

Answer #12

If you are younger then 20-25 they won’t whiten(bleach) your teeth because on your teeth you have enamel and if that comes off your teeth will become sensitive and not be able to eat ice cream and sweets. I am 13 years old and I currently asked my mom if my dentist can whiten my teeth or use those crest teeth whitening thing when I take of my braces I still haven’t but she said I am too young she even said that to my sister that is 18.So ask your dentist if their is something to make your teeth whiter cause when take off your braces they are just going to clean them

Answer #13

Make sure you brush them every night, proper brushing is essential for cleaning teeth and gums effectively.

Brushing removes plaque from the surfaces of your teeth, and if you do not brush plaque develops into unhealthy calculus. my guess is that your friend was useing rugalur brushing habits, in which cace causes problems when you have braces.

When you have braces it is hard to get building plaque from underneath the wires and tends to build up, causeing yellow teeth. Most orthodontists recommend brushing after every meal or snack with fluoride toothpaste and carefully removing any food that may have gotten stuck in your braces.

Some orthodontists will also prescribe or recommend a fluoride mouthwash, which can get into places in your mouth that a toothbrush can’t. But you must brush your teeth with braces if you dont want permanent damage.

Answer #14

Some orthodontist polish your teeth but they dont whiten them. it depends what your teeth look like before you get braces because when you get them off they may have yellow squares, or if your teeth are more yellow after, white squares. I have braces and my parents said I could get my teeth whitened after

Answer #15

They dont actually whiten them but they do polish them to get all of the glue off. Just keep brushing your teeth, especially after sugary foods! But, if you have just eaten something sugary then either dont brush your teeth straight after or rinse your mouth out thoroughly to get all of the excess sugar off, otherwise you’ll just be brushing the sugar into your teeth which will lead to early tooth decay.. especially when you have braces!
