Why am I afraid to sleep?

Ok… So for the past few days i cant sleep, its not that i am scared of the dark or that someone will come when i am sleeping… It’s just that I don’t feel safe sleeping or something like that… I cannot really explain it :L The only time i get rest is when I well… kinda faint, and that only gives me like 2 hours of sleep. Its also nothing to do with my dreams as most of them are nice and clam. So i really do not understand why I feel so scared, unsafe and petrified to sleep. Is something wrong with me? Do I have some disorder that developed ? Please help me if you have the time, thank you.

I used to have a similar situation. Except I was scared that if I went to sleep, I wouldn’t wake up the next day. I did get over it. I think you’re just scared that something might happen when you’re asleep. It could be that. Try to be calm and think of nice things before you go to bed. Think about good things and breathe properly and just try to forget all your worries. You need to convince yourself that nothing will happen when you’re asleep and that you will wake up tomorrow.Be self confident and try your best to stay calm. Try finding a position in bed where you sleep easily, for example, i have this one pillow which i like to hug close to my chest when i go to bed. I sleep sideways, so i always hold the comforter/ pillow/ anything when i’m going to bed. It’s actually a subconscious thing for me. I just end up sleeping that way.

I do hope this helped.

Have you considered visiting a doctor? I used to have the same problem (and still do a little bit), but I found by playing relaxing music as I went to bed helped a lot. :)
