I have to read one over the summer and then write a reflective essay (what the heck is that?!) on it for my AP Honors English class next year.
The Life of Pi byYann Martel, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, Magical Kingdom of Landover For Sale (VERY GOOD despite how dumb it sounds) by Terry Brooks, Sword of Shanara by Terry Brooks, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, Sarahs Key by Tatiana de Rosnay.
Whichever ones sound interesting let me know and Ill tell what its about :)
i think your best choice would be incubus ..... because its a adult level fiction book and its not too long but its not short either it wont take soo long to read but its filled with really good description so you can write a really good essay on it ...... you cant go wrong its perfect for this sort of thing x :)

A reflective essay is a piece of writing that basically involves your views and feelings about a particular subject. The goal of a reflective essay is to not only discuss what you learned, but to convey the personal experiences and findings that resulted.
