A question abut piercings...

First of all these questions are for my friend. I’m asking on here for her since she doesn’t have a computer. She is thinking about getting either a lip piercing or maybe a nose ring or she might even be interested in getting both. She is a bit worried about what her dad will think though. Her mom is ok with it, but her dad and his side of the family… well they don’t really like peircings and stuff. They’re very judgemental. I have met most of them so I know all too well that she is right about that. She’s afraid that once she gets them if she decideds to that when she goes to family gathers she’ll get unnecessary comments made about. Her grandmother on that side is one of the worst ones when it comes to judging. A cousin of hers whom happens to be a guy, recently got his ear pierced. He also got a tattoo a few weeks ago to honor someone who passed away. Well as soon as their grandmother saw his ears were pierced and he had a tattoo, she automatically said it looked stupid. I couldn’t believe it! It’s not HER choice is it?! His parents agreed to it and went to sign the agreement papers since he is under 18 so it was no problem. So what should she do about the family members who will talk bad about her just because of her choices to get piercings? Because she has already said that if she gets them done with her parents permission and her dad’s side of the family starts complaining that she is tempted just to never go back to one of their family gathers. That hurt me because I really don’t want that to happen. I can’t believe how her dad’s side of the family is! It’s completely uncalled for to be that judgemental of someone. I find it rather rude too. I mean honestly… it’s not their body so they have no say so in the matter. And she was also wondering the following -

  1. How much will a lip piercing hurt? more than your ear, they clamp the area, stick a hoillow surgical steel needle through, then thread the jewelrey through the needle

  2. How much will a nose piercing hurt? same process as the nose, it will hurt more than your eas, her eyes will water a buit while it gets peirced. never get them done ata salon or mall who use the gun, thye are unprofesional, the gun is horrible and its full of germs from other peoples blood because they dont sterilize

  3. How much will a lip piercing cost? on average, about $50

  4. How much will a nose piercing cost? same, average of about $30-50

  5. How can she find a professional piercing place near her? a tattooist will usually have a profesional peicer, she can also look them up on google in her area, however, if shes under 16 shell need to bring a parent to consent to this for her. also if she school has a dress code they wont allow it, and if she has a job or wants to get one theyll most likely find it unprofesional

  6. How can she make her dad and his side of the family not be so judgemental if it becomes too big of a problem? she cant really people will judge her no matter what…poeople will jodge everything if she waits till shes old enough (18) then its will fully be her decision either way, listen to them but its her choice, if she wants it, she wants it and make sure shes not getting it as a fashionaccessory or because its “cool”, everyone else has one ect

  1. How much will a lip piercing hurt? for me it didn’t hurt all that bad at all. I just wouldn’t recomend looking at the piercings needle cause it looks kinda intimidating

  2. How much will a nose piercing hurt? to me this hurt a but more then my lip, but still not that bad. no piercings are unbearable.

  1. How much will a lip piercing hurt? It depends on her level of tolerance, but like all pain it only last for so long then it goes away. I have my lip pierced and I love it, and it didnt hurt that bad at all!
  2. How much will a nose piercing hurt? Again it depends on her level of pain tolerance,I also have my nose done but my nose didnt hurt attt alll, it made my right eye water, but it wasnt from pain, it was just a reaction.
  3. How much will a lip piercing cost? It all depends on where you live my lip cost around 50 ish I think
  4. How much will a nose piercing cost? Depends where you live my nose cost aroun 20-30 ish I think

  1. How can she find a professional piercing place near her? Just look around and tattoo-piercing parlor, every places has one, jsut make sure its clean, streile, and they are good at what they do. if somethings worth doing its worth doing right.

I can REALLY relate to this, my dad anddd hisss side of the family are the exact SAME, not even kidding, I remember when I go my first piercing(s) which was my nose and industrial) they were livid, and disgusted. my grandma said I was a good for nothing tramp, a disgust to her last name, blah blah blah. My aunt said they were stupid and made me look like a slut, and im immature about it blah blah, my uncle wouldnt even look at me. It was bad. I was so pissed cause your right its MY body (or your friends) and we should be able to do with it as we please. But my fathers side of the family and me never really got along. My point is what Iiii did was when we sat down to eat and nobody would look at me I was like look, I dont care if you like me or not, what you think about my or my piercings, because its MY body, MY life, and Im not going to live my life to please you, so whether you like it or not nothing is going to change and I dont care what you think about it, you will always be my fmaily and I love you, but if you cant accept me as I am then thats your choice, and since then they were like still disgusted and disaproving and hate it but they dont say anything anymore, they have dirty looks and stuff but at least I dont have to listean to it.

So, as to # 6 my advice would be to do something like I did, do what makes HER happy, dont worry about what they think,, its her life and if she wants she could get it, shes not living for them, and if they dont like it oh well, the only thing that matters is if SHE likes it. She could always try doing somehting like I did.
