The pressure explosion is a hollywood-myth. If the pressure decline is extremely fast, then it might hurt you. But the human body can adapt to low pressure as long as the pressure decline goes slow.
You will die of suffocation first, obviously.
If you have a breathing mask but no space suit, then you would die of freezing to death and of dehydration as your body water evaporates into space. You would freeze and mummify.
The radiation is the least problem. It will only harm you where you are in direct line of sight of the sun. And the deeper into space you get, the less it will harm you. You will get a high dose of unfiltered UV that may cause terrible sunburn and eventually skin cancer... 20 years after you froze to death and mummified.
Howstuff works enumerated what will happen to you if you went out in the space with no any protection:
You don't freeze in space, at least not initially. In order for your body to freeze, it would need to transfer heat. Since space is a vacuum, your body will retain its heat.
You will not explode. You will black out after a short period of time. Eventually your lungs will collapse. You will die from suffocation.
The temperature would freeze the body, radiation will cause burns all the meanwhile, the pressure would cause us to explode. http://funadvice.com/r/16dncnnrjv0
I've been told...Kaboom....However, if you plan to go there ...please keep in touch on your FA blog and let us all know what we're in for...:)
I like this one better but yeah that weird for the conflicting statements between the 2 sites
Well, we were always told that your body would either explode or implode.
Hmm and then this site says otherwise. http://funadvice.com/r/3jsmur05ch
I was told you freeze, then massively distort, then explode.
(a) Copulation Explosion. (b) Population Explosion.
You would die & combust .
I sure will :-)
