Rebound relationships can be pretty fun at first but extremely hard to deal with over the journey. Investing your time, energy and even part of your emotions over somebody who doesn’t even consider it “real”, can be truly devastating and hurtful. If you’ve already committed to the fact that your relationship is nothing more than a mere rebound, then you’re actually very close to moving on from it too! The most basic step of getting yourself out of a rebound would be to understand and persuade yourself to act accordingly. And so today, we’re gonna help you successfully escape and move on from a rebound relationship!
The more time you spend with him/her, the more likely you are to get attached. And attachments wouldn’t be of any help especially if you’re planning to move on. Spend as less time as possible, yet do not avoid the person completely. This way, you’ll gradually be able to let go and move on without any worries.
Discussing any plans for the future when you know it’s not gonna happen sounds pointless, doesn’t it? Prevent yourself from conversing on topics like your future goals, marriage plans, kids, etc. These conversations often hold an emotional value and are the last thing you’d want to deal with, particularly in a rebound relationship.
Lovey-dovey moments with tons of emotions involved - sounds pretty risky! It’s high time you focus on logic over sentimental conversations. These “memories” aren’t something you’d wanna invest upon if your main intention isn’t a long-term relationship.
Rebound relationships are meant to be like they are defined. They could work, but that is extremely rare. And so, thinking and overanalysing your relationship is not gonna help. Making illogical assumptions and hoping the rebound would take a turn for the better is likely to break your heart. Avoid overthinking and keeping any expectations.
Expectation is the root of all heartache. Don’t keep any expectations, from your partner or from your relationship. The first and foremost step towards letting go would be to accept the unacceptable and expect more from yourself than others!
Avoid depending on your partner for everything. Keep things to yourself as much as possible. This way, you’ll learn to be independent and eventually, you’ll develop the confidence to let go without any fear of heartbreak.
If your partner expects you to play along the rebound relationship, then play along but only until you’re able to. When you know that your feelings are finally getting involved, talk to your partner and let them know that it’s becoming dangerous. Always remember, there’s nothing more important than your health and nothing more harmful than emotions causing misery.
Blaming yourself and regretting the relationship is only gonna end up demotivating you more than you already are. It’s okay to make such decisions and it’s completely okay to learn from these experiences. Accept the truth and move on with absolutely zero regrets. Trust me, you got this!
