Why can't I get a job?

I have looked online for local jobs, I have gone to places over and over again, I’ve tried just about everything I know to do. I have a resume, I have a lot of experience under my belt, I dress my best when I go for a job. I just dont know what im doin wrong

Well, it may not have anything to do with you.

1.) There are other people that are applying at the same jobs for same positions as you. There maybe one position open and employer can get a stack of applications. Then, they have to choose 1 person (out of say 12 applicants) they believe will be qualified.

2.) Could be what you’re filling out on the application too. If you’re asking for 12.00 per hour (e.p…700 per week) and the job pays 7.00 per hour. They’re not going to even hire you.

3.) Could be the hiring manager is bias and whatever.

4.) Maybe, a reference you’re using is talking trash about you. Your previous employers are subject to laws. Some states allow employers to make negative comments about former employees in “good faith.” However, they cannot make a slander/defamation comment about you. So, check your local laws regarding that. In addition, If they ask about your rehire status, and the answer is “no” thats usually a boner kill.

So, double check your references by calling them and posing as a hiring manager of a company (a made up company if possible) or have someone else do it. Ask questions like:

a.)Ask them to verify dates of employment and positions. b.)What is the highest level of management could this person obtain? c.)Ask about duties of the job d.)Ask about rehire status, and ask them to expand upon their answer. e.)Ask if he or she got along with peers. f.)Ask if there is anything else they should let you know about.

5 to 6 questions are enough. A, D, and F you should ask.

Hope, that helps.

First of all, for the record I think you’re really pretty (not ugly AT ALL)!

Now, what kind of job are you looking for? If it’s something that requires a degree, I’m not really qualified to help you out… but, if it is just a normal job, like a server/retail/receptionist, or something like that, sounds like you are doing a lot of things right! Have you considered the time you go in to apply? I know that my boss would usually hire more walk-ins rather than go through a bunch of applications! Make sure you go during a slow time when the hiring manager will be there and you may get hired on the spot! Also, don’t be so nervous during an interview that it seems like you have no personality! Smile and be very friendly and nice! Is there anything you’re not sure about?

You are not ugly at all. Maybe you are not applying for jobs that you are qualified for? Next time you are turned down, politely ask them what made them decide that, and if they could tell you what you could have done differently. That way you can apply what they say to your next interview. Also, I’ve said this before: “So should I start today?” lol. Needless to say everytime I used that line, I got the job.
