What can we tell him so he'd listen?

This is going to be quite gross. 5 years ago, my step father had 2 heart attacks.. Since then, he;s been neglecting his diet, his lifestyle change and pretty much his health. He has become very lazy, and no, I don’t want to hear “the heart attacks can make him like this”!! That would look a lot different than this does. Amongst that neglect list was also personal hygene. He has not showered in I’d say 9+ months. He comes home, sits down infront of the computer and I am not kidding, he does not get up. He has not slept in the same bed as my mother since he had those heart attacks. My mom and sisters and I are planning to tell him to take one because he is stinking up the house now, amongst doing other things. Someone tell me something to say to him to convince him to go cause at this point, nothing is working.

Thanks

You have to address this problem nicely on him, you wouldent want to be hard, or make it feel like yous are attacking him verbally. I understand why this would upset you and your family. It is possible that this issue has other reasons behind it. Have you asked him anything is bothering him? If might say no at first, but maybe you should have a good long civil conversation with him, and find the root of these issues. If worst comes to worst, you should have a nurtitionist, or nurse come in and talk to him about the importance of not neglecting himself the way he is. If this doesnt work, you may have to as a least resort be firm with him about it. I wish you luck in fixing this problem!
