Is it legal and should a 12 year old babysit

Should 12 year olds be able to babysit and is it legal

Answer #1

it’s legal. I suggest to any twelve year old babysitters to go get red cross certified as a babysitter. it helps in emergency situations to know the stuff they teach. that and people are more likely to hire a babysitter who has a certification. I started babysitting when I was twelve, and my certification and experience with my younger brother really helped. some twelve year olds shouldn’t babysit how ever because they aren’t mature and or responsible enough (I wouldn’t trust my older brother alone with a young kid, and he’s 14). before going into babysitting make sure you ask yourself these questions: do I do my chores? do I do homework and turn it in on time? (for responsibliltiy) do I handle situations where something goes wrong well? am I nice to my sibblings or atleast tolerate them? (for maturity) most twelve year olds are mature and responsible enough to babysit. so best of luck!

Answer #2

It depends if the 12 year old is responsible enough to do it. If the parent think the 12 year old is old enought to do it.

Answer #3

Legally a babysitter must be 14 years old. so really a 12 year old shouldnt baby sit

Answer #4

yes it is legal in the UK. but if you’re in USA then no. you also have to make sure that that 12 year old is mature enough to babysit your child. they should know what to do in rapid situations like a house fire. it doesn’t depend on the age. it depends on how mature they are.

Answer #5

well I dont think theres a law but in england you have to be 14 to be left alone in the house but no1 cares so meh

Answer #6

It’s legal, but I wouldn’t let a 12 year old watch small children.

Answer #7

I babysat all the time when I was 12…so I think 12 year olds should be able to babysit if theyre responsible

Answer #8

im 13 now and started to baby sit when I was 11

Answer #9

I’m not so sure ..maybe for a couple of hours but I wouldn’t let a baby be capable in there hands I’m looking for a baby sitting job and I’m 13 but I think 12 is a tiny bit to young unless you no them quit well and you understand that he/she is capable and responsible and very reliable maybe see how they do (at least give them one chance) this is only because is no its v hard being rejected and quit emotional.
