...in other words, would you put them in the same catagory? Or are they not the same
Well they are all doing you wrong, so thats one thing that they have in common. But I would not say they are the are the same, drinking is hurting your liver while smoking is hurting your lungs and cutting is hurting yourself and putting yourself at risk of hitting a vein or something and cause you to have an emergency. Cutting might be more dandreous than smoking, and drinking might be worse than smoking. So no they are not the same.
In terms of being unhealthy for you, perhaps. If you break it down, though, they are separately quite different when put in different scenarios. While all can be used for the same thing (coping with negative emotions), in some cases the drinking and smoking are more of a social thing and are not intended to be self destructive or to alleviate emotional pain. Self harm (cutting), on the other hand, mostly is.
You know I read an article that argued that all of it was self harm at the end of the day. Here's the bottom line though, smoking and drinking can be done recreationally without an indication that there is something wrong. Self harm is always an indication that there is an underlying problem. So no, they are not NECESSARILY the same concept. However, it is possible to smoke and drink in a harmful way.
Not the same. Drinking/smoking could be used for partying, mind altering reactions, fun, or just something to do, sometimes their a problem for people that are trying to escape from things. Cutting indicates theres a problem, most people don't just go off & cut for fun. I guess they could be put in the same catagories under certain circumstances. Depends on the reasons.
Well it all depends on the person. drinking/smoking/cutting are side effects from stress and worries, even depression, so in a way they are similar, but in other ways they are different. All 3 harm the body but in 3 different ways. So they dip into each other's categories depending the way you are looking at it.
some people are addicted to sutting though, its very sad. it really depends on the person and how theyre using it because there are many different ays to look at this question, what you sid is right...just adding the addicted to cutting part.
Well, they could be considered the same if a person was using/ doing these things as a sort of 'self destruct' or for stress reasons. They could also be considered the same as a person could be equally addicted to each one of these things.
same category, as like they are all stupid thing to do
they're all considered bad and bad for you
I know exactly what you mean.
