My dog wont eat anything

Hey, I have a 2 year old collie miniture mix [her names ruby] she wont eat dry nuts or treats she just crushes them up with her teeth and leaves it there, also shes really picky with her canned food she wont eat a really expensive brands or even the cheap ones, she only likes some of the food in gravey instead of jelly and now she just wont eat anything unless im eating it, she only ever drinks water, I’ve tried new pet food bowls but she still wont eat untill im eating the same thing

Shes been wormed and is taken for walks daily, shes had all her shots

Help!!! Pleeeze!

She’s spoiled, by the sounds of it.

She won’t starve herself. Keep offering her the regular food and she’ll eat eventually.

well for a dog to only drink water that ok, but she sounds like she’s trying to be like you she only eats when you eat the same thing put her in 1 room where there are no people but it has air where she can get oxygen from you know set a bowl of dog food infront of her and a bowl of water and maybe a couple chew toys and leave her in there for a whole night and it should be gone by the next morning because she’ll eventually learn she can’t have what she wants and shell get to the point she’ll eat any dog food you give her, but if that dont work take her to the vet.

I would check what is good and bad for your dog, Nuts and raisins are very bad. It really does sound like she has you trained. I would go to the vet and get a check up, if all it well then you need to rethink you plan and stick to it. A dog will eat when they are hungry, If you keep giving her different things and changing it to quickly, you could make her sick. Switching food to often is not good for them. Neither is table food ( except green bean) you don;t want her to be overweitht, does more damage then good.

Guess what?? Your dog has picked up on your worry…and is waiting you out for “something better” each and everytime you add something to her food, or change her food…She’s just smart!

If you want to bribe her into eating, just drop one tiny piece of meat or one teaspoon of canned food into her regular food…let it sit there for 30 minutes…if she doens’t eat…pick it up, and don’t give her anything till dinner time. Put it back down, and offer it again…(and don’t stand around fretting/watching/waiting)…every nuance of YOUR behaviour she is watching as closely as you are watching hers. She’s waiting for you to cave! She isn’t going to starve to death in a few days…so don’t cave! Be non-chalant…tell yourself “I don’t care if you eat that or not”…she will pick up on that, also…

I know this…because I have created eating monsters, myself…by worrying, fretting, wondering…if and when they’d eat (I even spoon fed one dog…gawd that’s embarrassing)…It was harder on ME to learn to ignore their eating, than it was on them to go a couple of days trying to wait me out.
