Grown kids leaving parents out of family get together

Our daugther lives in denver and have not seen her in about 4 years our sons live in the area see one son a lot mostly because of grankids and lives close but the other son lives about one hour away we see maybe about once a month Daughter came home on business we got to see her for dinner on friday and had a nice visit but the kids and grandkids all got together on sunday but we were not invited I have been crying for a whole week now I just don’t know what to think

Answer #1

These are your kids. Why are you crying. If you’d done something, they would have let you know. So you let them know. Just call one of them up and say ‘I feel hurt that you left us out of your get together’, dont accuse or attack, just express your feelings.

Answer #2

I too am seeing the same thing with not only my own family but some of my friends. It seems that our generation of respect and the want for our elders is a dying one. I feel tossed aside as though I have done by job as childbearing, but now they don’t need nor want me. I have expressed my feelings that only lead to excused from them. I want to know what to do too.

Answer #3

That wasn’t very thoughtful of them… Have you asked WHY they left you out? Let them know how badly it hurt you. It’s possible they just weren’t thinking- which, I know, isn’t really a good excuse.
