What do I do when my dog was bitten by something and it's turning bright red?

I have a small chiwawa jack tussle mix who’s about 4. Hes been itching a lot these past few weeks so I took a look and his skin under his belly is bright red. He has something that looks like a bite under his right front leg pit area. I have no idea how long its been there I just know a few weeks. I know it wasn’t a tick or flea because of the stuff we use and the only vet in our area is being worked on. I called my dad who’s a dog handler and he said to put trinket antibacterial stuff on it but I didn’t get to ask how often or if it goes everywhere or just his bite. What do I do?

Answer #1

I would put something like peroxide on it several times a day, and if it does not start getting better after a couple of days or if it gets worse I would take him to a vet :)

Answer #2

neosporin or some antibacterial cream

Answer #3

I would take that dog to the vet asap.

Check the spot again for any stingers that may have been left in the skin area. It’s possible it could be a bee sting and remove it. If it continues to spread or the dog appears to be getting sick you will need to contact your vet.
