FunAdvice Advice from: stratify http://www.funadvice.com/my/advice/stratify en-us Re: How to become a pirate? It's Illegal in virtually all parts of the world to be a pirate. However, I suggest searching around coastal bars of third world nations. Not many pirates in the USA anymore. stratify Thu, 07 Feb 2008 16:08:36 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/pirate 214361 Re: How can I get taller? Exercise and eat well. Don't think in terms of "don't eat and don't get fat". Think more in the terms of "eat and burn the food before it turns to fat". stratify Tue, 25 Sep 2007 15:49:59 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/how_can_i_get_taller_46420 103432 Re: Are credit cards dangerous for low-budget people? It depends on two possiblities. 1) You are a "creditable" person. If you buy somthing from your credit card, you pay it IMMEDIATELY. The only reason you use your credit card is not with the attitude "I'll pay it later", but with the attitude "I just wanna use this, so I don't have to carry the spare change". This means that as soon as you get your bill, maybe even before the bill comes, you go pay it. In this case, your credit is going to be very good. You should be able to improve your credit score, which is essential to buying a house (with low income). 2) You are something not in paragraph 1. If you do not know how the credit system works, or do not know how interest works, or how fees work, or how to pay bills over the Internet, rip the credit card as soon as you receive it. If you're also bad at paying bills (see many pastdue bills?), then just cancel the credit card. stratify Mon, 24 Sep 2007 18:20:18 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/are_credit_cards_dangerous_for_low 103075 Re: Where can a convicted felon get a good paying job? Sell drugs. No but seriously, you can't. I'm sorry to break it to you, but it's very hard to get a job after you have that black mark in your record. This leads to the reason why most felons end up selling drugs/other illegal activities. stratify Mon, 24 Sep 2007 18:12:17 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/felony_1965 103066 Re: How can I deal with this insulting high school crap? Ah, the joys of high school. The best option available for you is to just wait it out. High school is like that. Just wait until you get into college and this changes. Meanwhile, you might want to change your focus from rumors/self image to other things like volunteer work. stratify Mon, 24 Sep 2007 18:08:59 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/insulted 103062 Re: What is GED? It's a diploma that's supposedly equivalent to a high school diploma. By law, this is so. However, if you think about the de facto, this might not be so. If you're failing high school (or dropped out already), I suggest you drop out and go for this diploma. If not, just go graduate. It's better. Also, if you arn't doing well/didn't do well in HS, you might wanna pursue this degree as well. stratify Mon, 24 Sep 2007 18:05:05 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/wats_ged 103058 Re: How can I be excllent at studying? That's a good question. You're 14, in high school, and this is a very important time for your educational career. Studying should never be done "brutely". Use strategy. Each person learns differently. The hardest part about learning is to discover which way you learn best. Your question is too broad to give any detailed advice. Given from what you said, I think what you need to research on is how you learn best. To do this, do the following: 1) Pick an easy subject that you know you struggled with. This can vary for people. For the majority, it's math. If it's math, then choose a certain subject within math that you struggled with (fractions, decimals, graphing functions, probability, etc). Be sure it's something you know you will end up mastering if you try. If you're good at math, choose another subject, like history or chemistry, and do the analogousness of that. 2) Study. What you should be focused, on while learning this topic, is not purely on actually learning the topic. Your focus should be how you're learning. 3) Discover how you learn. If you find that yuo're having a hard time grasping a concept. Stop and see what you have been doing. Were you repeating the formula over and over in your head? Were you conceptualizing how this formula works? Were you writing down the formula over and over again? If the strategy wasn't working for you, then you need to choose a new one. 4) Find new strategies. Google up research strategies. Type "study tips" and search. Or just think of a strategy on your own. Mnemonics is a common tactic people use for example. It doesn't work well for me, personally. So I use other means to memorize it (maybe relating the term with a foreign word or number). Another example is when memorizing numbers. Some people learn it best when they repeat it a lot of times in their head. I personally just repeat it a few times, until it's in my short term memory. Then, I repeat it an hour later (if I can) and so on, until I memorize it. I hope this suggestion was helpful. It's also a great thing that you're motivated to study. Most people don't care/slack off. While they may cheat their way into college. Many of these people struggle in college. It's best if education is received properly. Cheers to you. Best wishes. stratify Mon, 24 Sep 2007 18:02:14 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/how_can_i_be_excllent_at_studying 103055 Re: What would make my brown eyes stand out more? It is entirely possible that not being able to hold the job is not directly related to the tattoo itself, but his attitude/other reasons. I don't know of many employers that are willing to fire someone solely due to the reason of having a tattoo. When you get down to it, he can simply cover the tattoo wearing a long sleeved shirt. stratify Mon, 24 Sep 2007 17:31:04 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/tattoo_165223 103046 Re: Why do females keep calling me ugly? You will find that using all caps is rather impolite for many Internet users. Search "netizens etiquette caps" on google for a source. I think a reason why people may have given rude remarks is due to this. I quote from microsoft.com: "Avoid using ALL CAPS to emphasize—this will be understood as "yelling.”" stratify Mon, 24 Sep 2007 17:27:28 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/that_really_hurts 103045 Re: How tall am I going to get? You're at an important stage in your life (in terms of growth). First off, be sure not to diet by abstaining food. My sister did this and she stopped growing. What you need to do is exercise and eat healthy. This is critical. After you hit 18 or so, you're most likely not gonna grow anymore. You need to get a spurt now. Otherwise, it might be too late. I know the term "rest of your life" comes very light to an adolescent (usually). But trust me, my sister's 28 now and she's still regretting all the food abstaining she did. Your BMI is about 23, I'm not sure if this is muscle or fat. So don't take any of this personally. However, if you do not exercise frequently (like many, many adolescents nowadays), start doing so. It's better to be healthy now, at this important stage in your life instead of regretting it 5-6 years later, after you're height is fixed permenantly. Be sure you're able to run about a mile or two without stopping. If you cannot run a mile or two without stopping. Start trying now. With enough devotion, anyone that is short of obese should be able to do this within a few months. Do not worry about weight. Your BMI is normal. Eat well. Eat healthy. Exercise well. At this stage in life (although youths firmly don't comply to this), you shouldn't be worrying too much about body fat. If you work too hard to remove fat. You're gonna end up with small breasts (and butt), and you may regret it in the future. But at the same time, make sure you do not turn fat. At this age, the fatty cells grow (after you finish growing, the fatty cells stop growing, in general). So if you're a typical girl, you will want the fatty cells to grow in the breast/butt area, not your stomach/legs. In conclusion, eat well (not at McDonalds) and exercise well. I just took my Calc 3 exam and there's an exam tomorrow. My head is killing me, and I don't think I wrote the above paragraphs in an organized manner. Just take what you can (decipher) from what I wrote. stratify Mon, 24 Sep 2007 17:22:24 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/how_tall_am_i_going_to_get 103043 Re: How do you finger a girl? A guy shouldn't ever be forced to do this. Just tell her that you're not comfortable with fingering and that you would prefer having sex with her instead. But if you see it from another perspective, it can be that you're not sexually satisfying her enough. Be sure that you're lasting long enough for her to orgasm (be sure she's not faking it). stratify Mon, 24 Sep 2007 16:55:57 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/how_do_you_finger_a_girl_3369 103031 Re: How can I convince my parents to get me contacts? Tell your parents that you're a big girl now and that you should be able to make your own choices. Or you can do what everyone else does and get it without your parent's permission. stratify Mon, 24 Sep 2007 16:47:08 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/contacts 103028 Re: What do you think of belly button piercings? If you simply want the attention, get it pierced. If you want to impress your boyfriend, it's definitely an individual thing. I personally think (**warning** do not read below if you're easily offended) that pierced buttons indicates the girl's a skank. But many men love skanks. Here's my theory on how this works. Guy sees belly button and reads it as "easy" (referring to the girl). Guy approaches girl to get "friendly". Girl gets attention and is happy. Therefore, I think the answer to your question (in my opinion) is that it's skanky and guys like it. stratify Mon, 24 Sep 2007 16:43:58 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/belly_button_piercings 103026 Re: How can I get my hair back to blonde?
