What is your BMI (Body Mass Index) I can tell you that I am 5 foot 6 inches and I weigh roughly 375 - 380 pounds. I am what you would consider obese. I highly doubt that you are. Tell me how much you weigh and how tall you are and I can tell you what your BMI is and whether or not you are obese. If this is something that you are thinking constantly about you might have an eating disorder and that could lead to serious problems. You need to get this straightened out right away so it does not consume your life. Good luck and God Bless If you need me, I am here for you, just funmail me. Take care Stacey stayray2008 Tue, 26 Feb 2008 23:36:21 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/ok_wow_obese 239118 Re: How to lose weight? Ok, my heart really goes out to you. When I was your age, (I am 30 now) I was in your same position, only homeschooling was not an option back then. My battle with my weight started when I was like 4 or 5 years old. See, I had a grand mal seizure when I was 3 almost 4 and I was put on this medication. The first meds that the doctor put me on, made me really hyper. The second and last med he put me on, well, made me really really hungry. Even when I wasnt. I think that my main problem was that I was being abused and I ate out of emotions, more than the medicine. I think that my parents used the meds as an excuse. Now, from about the age of 6 to my preteen years, I had tried every diet imaginable. I did everything, I cannot stress that enough. I do remember that when I was 10, I went to a weight watchers meeting and I remember the scale said 122. I do not know why I remember that number, but I do. I even went under hypnosis, I did the jenny craig thing, The diet workshop, Nutrisystem, and others. To no avail, I kept gaining weight. Then in 1989, I was institutionalized, like in an inpatient in a psychiatric hospital. That didnt work either. That just put me in touch with more people who had eating disorders that I learned from. When I entered the hospital, I was a compulsive overeater, when I left, I was bulimic. Go figure. I have battled with weight my whole life. It has been a hard and very lonely disease. I use the word disease, because that is what it is. I learned that I was addicted to food. (Among other things...) Like I said earlier, I am now 30 years old. During my late teens and early 20s, I was told that I would not be able to have any children. I found out that I had PCOS and that it was an endocrine as well as a reproductive disorder. During my research, I found out that women with PCOS, primarily gain their weight in their abdomen and they have multiple cysts on their ovaries, they have unwanted hair growth, and the loss of their menstral cycles, among other symptoms. The underlying cause is that women with PCOS, their bodies produce too much insulin. It is a type of diabeties, but I havent discovered which type. I mention this, because you said that you only eat 2 meals per day and that you do not really snack that much, so you must be wondering why you are gaining weight. Am I right? Well, like I said, I have other medical conditions that are directly affected by my weight and I am in preperations for a Gastric Bypass surgery. I know that this is a last resort, for me, but I cannot seem to loose weight. I am not an advocate for this, but I think that you should go get a complete physical and tell the doctor to see if you might have PCOS. If you get on meds...they will want to give you Glucophage (Metformin), That didnt agree with me and my intestional tract so they took me off of that and then they gave me Actos (that worked well) and I actually lost weight. I followed a diabetic diet and I did loose weight. I didnt stick with it mainly because of my insurance, but I stopped taking the meds and I went off the diet. I do know that if you drink ANY KIND of POP or SODA DIET or regular, you will be defeating the purpose of any kind of weight loss you may try. If you are drinking POP stop and you will see that you will loose like 20 lbs in a month. You do have to drink a lot of water. Personally, I Hate water!!! I can only drink it if it has ice in it and it is really really cold. Talk to your doctor about a weight loss plan. You are very heavy and something needs to be done. You may need to meet with a dietian or a nutritionist. Oh and I do not know where you live, but, I live in Pittsburgh, and it gets really cold here and I do not want to leave my house, nevertheless exercise, but I have joined my local YMCA and I joined with my boyfriend. Having someone to exercise or walk with you will help. Look, this is getting pretty lengthly so if you would like to know more, please funmail me. I would like to be your friend in this and I am here to support you in any way. Stay strong and Keep your chin up. Well, if you are buying for the guy, I would have to ask what your relationship is like with the guy, because that matters. If it is just a good friend type of relationship, then I would get him a 21 card and maybe a DVD or giftcard to somewhere that you know he likes to shop and maybe a bottle of liquor. Now, if this guy is your boyfriend and you guys are going out, (if it was me...) I would buy some liquor, whatever he likes, and then go to Spencer's or Hot Topic ( whatever you have near you) and buy a sex game. Let me know how it goes. stayray2008 Tue, 19 Feb 2008 19:59:28 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/to_all_men 228472 Re: Should I tell my Mom I'm a lesbian? Ok, I thimk that you should give it some time. You are young still and I know for me, I am bi and I am also 30. I have had my experiences and I think that you need to wait it out. It is normal for you to find women attractive, but as far as being a lesbian, I think that you really need to experience the lifestyle first and see if that is really the case. I personally think that you are just attracted to women. That is how it started with me, but I think that I may be a little more complex than most people. If you would like to privately talk about this further, feel free to funmail me. I will not chastize you like some people on here. Good luck. Hi there. Ok, I tried to post this with the proper name of the store, but the FunAdvice system is rejecting the Name of the store because it is a "bad word". So, I will put an askterisk in place of a letter to see if that works, but I think that you will know the name. I prefer this place over others like, Sports Authority and Play It Again, because they really have good quality for the prices. That is where I do all of my sporting goods shopping. I would go to D*ck's Sporting Goods. They have a great selection and their prices are reasonable. As far as which kind to get, well, I would say, go there and try them out. Find out what feels comfortable for you. stayray2008 Thu, 31 Jan 2008 10:17:11 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/golf_clubs 206314 Re: How did you meet the love of your life? I am sure that you will et a "kick" out of my story...So, I was living at a hotel in Deerfield Beach, FL. It was kinda cool, one block from the beach! Anyways, this guy Billy, lived in room 1 and I lived in room 2. He was an older gentleman, He looked like David Crosby. He had long hair with 2 braids in it and more importantly, he was so kind. Back then, I used to smoke cigarettes and we would bum off of each other, we would help our neighbors out and we would sit by the pool on Saturdays and share a 12 pack and play spades. He was just a nice guy. Anyways, so he got an apartment in Boca Raton, a city just north of where we were and he moved, but gave me his cell phine number before he did. Well, he had a corvette. Well, right before he left, he had lost the keys and ended up having his car towed to his new place. Well, a couple of weeks went by and I decided that I was going to give Billy a call. So, I dialed the number he gave me and yes a guy did answer. He said that he was in Baltimore, MD. So, knowing that he "Billy" told me that he was going to Boca, I asked him how he ended up in Maryland. He said that he was driving a truck, like an 18 wheeler. I was surprised, but just figured that was a cool job. This was like the first week in August. So, we talked that night for a bit and then I called him back over the weekend. So, the weekend came and when I called the same guy answered and we talked somemore and that when he asked me if I had a boyfriend? Well, "Billy", (the guy at the hotel) knew that I was separated from my husband (now ex). So I said, no, I dont have a boyfriend, I thought you knew that. And he said oh I forgot. So, we set something up to go out when he got back in town, Well, through more phone calls, I found out that this guy that I thought was "Billy", wasn't! It was a guy named Mike. Yes he had long hair, no braids, but we got to know each other through continuing phone calls. This was in September. So we continued to talk on the phone pretty much every day and finally he came back in town, but for our date, he stood me up. So, I was upset, but I continued to answer the phone when he would call and I gave him another chance. For the next month we continued to talk on a multiple call daily basis (keep in mind that we still haven't seen each other) October 2nd we finally had our date. I wanted to keep things "safe" so I went to Publix ( a grocery store in FL) and he pulls up in the rig part of his truck. He got out and helped me up into the truck and we parked it behind the store and then we went to an awesome mexican restaurant and had a lovely meal. We talked and laughed and it was just great. The nervousness that I had felt was gone. I felt so comfortable with Mike. It was like we had known each other for years. So, we had a great first date. One that I will never forget. I had gone home and he had to go back out on the road, so, we continued to do the phone thing, I filed for my divorce, and got some things taken care of that I need to and then he came back one more time, two weeks later. We spent that weekend together and that is when I fell in love. That is also when Mike says that he fell in love with me. Well, he went back out on the road and oh my god was it horrible being away from him. So, I finished tying up my loose ends in Florida and I decided that I was going to go out on the road with him. So, I packed up all of my stuff and on November 14, 2006, Mike picked me up at that same Publix grocery store and I got into his truck for good. It has been a wonderful experience and I feel so fortunate to have Mike in my life and I feel so happy to be in love with a fabulous guy. stayray2008 Thu, 31 Jan 2008 06:25:06 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/how_did_you_meet_the_love_of_your 206188 Re: How long is a big forehead? go to my pics and tell me that I do not have a big forehead and I will be your best friend. I actually have a receding hair line because I suffer from PCOS, which is polycystic ovarian syndrome, it is a complex disorder, but basically, I have too much testosterone and too much insullin. I also suffer from unwanted hair in unwanted places and other problems. I dont think you have that, but you know what? Do you have Indian in you? Waxing would be the only way to acheive the no bump look that you desire. Wrok for me and I have been shaving for years. Anyways, if you do not have the money for a professional, may I suggest to go to www.guitarcenter.com There are dvd/books that you can use to learn. They have all different levels too. A BIG tip for you though, start on acoustic, it will help you in the long run. And PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. You will suck in the beginning, but keep at it and you will be great. Trust me.
