Re: Stressed out, how do I deal with it?

These are all great things to do but each person needs to find their own way to handle stress. I deal with Stress by working out, running, shooting hoops doing some kind of activity that gets my heart going. It helps me a ton!!!

If you don't have that option, taking 2 to 5 minutes breathing deep and thinking about all the good in your life, thinking about if 10 years from now you look back will this thing that is stressing you out have really mattered??? These things help me....

Also there is a saying that Iove "Don't stress over things you can't controll"

Re: Plasma Tv Or Lcd Tv?

It actually depends on several factors. Plasmas now don't get the "burn Out" That old plasmas did. This means that a Plasma CAN infact last as long as a DLP or LCD TV. You also have to consider size of TV. If you are looking for a TV 37" or bigger you will get more bang for your buck with Plasma. If it's smaller then LCD is going to be the better way to go. Also viewing angle. Plasma can be viewed from almost a 90 degree angle. If your set up has seeting that is to the left or right of your tv then plasma could be a better choice as the picture won't distort as you move to one side of the TV.

All in all it's about getting the most bang for your buck. My advice... Go to Best Buy where they have several TV's on. Look at the picture and go with the one that looks the sharpest to you. Also ask them to show you the picture not in HD so you can see lower resolution as well. All stores normally show the TV in HD.

Re: What are the best excuses to get out of work sick?

Food Poisoning is always a good one. The key is if you know you are going to miss a day. Call or email the night before and set the trap. Tell them at like 9 or 10pm that you have been sick since you got home and are not sure if you can make it. Then the day of, you call again. This always works the best since you are following up the day of.

Re: How can I impress the basketball coach during tryouts?

I was in your situation when I was younger. i've played sports all my life and always ended up making the team I wanted. I played varsity as a freshman. Here is the #1 thing you can do to impress the coach.

WORK YOUR BUTT OFF!!!! Coaches LOVE hard workers. people that run to every drill. Put 110% into every drill you do will help you stand out. Hard work always pays off. I don't care how big, tall or talented your. If you are lazy and don't try hard you won't make the team. I've been in many situations where I was the best on a team. I never once had that attitute though. I made sure to always put 100% into everything. Even if it was just running liners. Effort pays off. Not only for you personally to get better. But it will impress that heck out of the people that are watching you.

Don't take your height for granted. Just work hard, focus and good things will happen.

I'm know 30 years old and have applied this to everything I do in life. I'm not only successful in the sports I play but am making a great living.

HARD WORK ALWAYS PAYS OFF AND WILL ALWAYS GET YOU NOTICED!!!!

Good luck!! Let us know how you do.

Also work your butt off but also have fun doing it. Relax out there and have fun. You can work your butt off and have fun doing it. Look at Michael Jordan. He was the hardest working man in the NBA but he LOVED IT : )

Re: How I can improve my basketball shot?

Keep your elbow tucked in on your shooting arm. They say to point it at the hoop but sometimes that doesn't feel totally natural. It's ok if it's out a little. Also. You should be shooting with your first three fingers and thats it. The ball should roll off those fingers. That's how players develop such a great "Touch". Watch the spin of the ball when it comes off your hand. The ball should spin backwards and not to the side. Practice just taking the ball and letting it roll off your first three fingers with a perfect backspin. Just do this in the air a few times to get comfortable with it. Then move to a hoop. Stand close and practice shooting the ball like this directly into the hoop. Play a game. Try to do this so the ball goes through the hoop and does't touch the rim. I used to do this all the time. See how many I could do in 10 shots. This will help to develop your touch and good form. Then slowly just take two steps backward and do the same thing. Keep doing this and before you know it you will be at the three point line draining three's.

Also practice this technique at the free throw line.

The farther back you go the more you will have to use your legs. You should not develop power in your shot from pushing your arm. This should all come from bending your knees and pushing up/jumping. This is what will give you power to shoot from longer away. Your arm, wrist and follow through should always be exactly the same, It's the legs that allow you to shoot from farther away. But..... Don't expect to be perfect. If you are shooting a 3 you will probably need a little help from your arm. But keeping this rule in mind will help you develop a great shot with great touch.

Hope that helps!!!

Re: should i buy ankle weights?

if you are 15 then I would ask your doctor. but... dude you are only 15. If you are almost duncing at that age you will be able to dunk in no time at all. Work on your leg strength. Jump rope. Do squats, run bleachers. You can build strength in your legs with out ancle weights.

Re: basketball nervous

I've played basketball for a number of years and am on the shorter side. I know what you are talking about. Practice is always great but you also have to think about what advantages you have over a taller person. Typically a smaller person will be faster/quicker. What I used to do is get a tall person who is guarding me to pick me up far from the basket. Then litterally drive to the hoop. I was quicker then they are so it helped. If you are under the hoop playing a taller person you don't have the advantage. I would also work on your outside shot and passing. That was the key to my game. Passing and shooting. I never really had to drive low, rebound and do the things that taller people have the advantage on. Look at Allen Iverson. He is tiny. He is great at passing and shooting. Focus on that.
