FunAdvice Advice from: spaceyjc http://www.funadvice.com/my/advice/spaceyjc en-us Re: Fever and teething? yes, fever and teething are quite common to occur at the same time. docs say they are not related...but I think it is! all of mine ran some kind of fever with the first few teeth! and my grandma had 8 kids and swears the docs dont know what they are talking about since most of her kids had low fevers with teething. if it gets to 101 degrees farenheit call the doc...otherwise a little tylenol can help the fever and the teething. good luck...I know how tough this time can be for you and your little one! spaceyjc Wed, 04 Jun 2008 17:38:12 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/fever_and_teething 371271 Re: When will my baby walk? dont worry! I am a mom of four and they all walked eventually! I promise your little one will walk before he graduates high school! lol...its normal for you to sweat the small stuff...but try not to compare your baby with anyone elses! my 1st walked at 10 months, my second at 15 months, my third the day after she turned 9 months, and my 11 month old baby is still not walking yet! and yes, she has been cruising for months also! it will happen, I promise! spaceyjc Wed, 04 Jun 2008 17:34:29 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/when_will_my_baba_walk 371263 Re: Can you still get pregnant with birth control? you absolutely can get pregnant even when taking birth control pills! and always, always have the guy wear a condom! even if you think you can trust him, or that he has told you everyone he has been with... there are thousands of people walking around with std's that have no idea they are infected! some people carry an std for years and years and never know! do some research on the web and you will find that there are some std's like herpes that may not show signs for years, but can be passed all the same! so yes, he should ALWAYS wear a condom! spaceyjc Wed, 04 Jun 2008 17:08:33 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/can_u_still_get_pregnant_with_birth 371225 Re: How to be happy in my final days? surround yourself with family and friends and just love the people you are close to. have someone help you gather every one together with you to remember the fun times. retell them to eachother. laugh at the silly things you did together. be proud of the accomplishments you have made alone or together with them. then write the stories down in a journal, or write them as letters to your family and friends...or even poems! dont make them sad, but instead happy! fill them with all of the best times you remember having with each person...dont forget to include any funny things you did together too! as you are writing them...smile, laugh, let yourself feel loved! each breath everyone of us takes is precious...and none of us know when it may be our last. even though the doctors have given you a time frame, dont let that shadow your every breath! instead use this opportunity to remember your lifes sweetest moments! and give that back to those you love! spaceyjc Thu, 22 May 2008 22:33:57 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/dying_155840 356721 Re: Best brand of mattress to buy? they are kind of pricey...but TEMPURPEDIC! they are so great! I slept on one in a luxury hotel room...and at first sit, my husband and I thought it was going to be a hard mattress...then, we began to sink in...for real! the material that the bed is made out of responds to your body and adjusts the support where needed most! we have an old mattress at home and both wake with back aches daily...also lots of restless tossing and turning at night, so tired in the morning when we wake. BUT the night we spent at he hotel...a whole different story! we both slept like babies! no tossing, no restlessness, no back ache in the morning...just fully rested happy (and amazed) people! we both have raved to everyone about how great of a nights sleep we both had...we gotta get one of these too! I highly recommend!!! spaceyjc Thu, 22 May 2008 22:11:59 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/best_brand_of_mattress_to_buy 356701 Re: Whats this song called, lyrics "you can be my boyfriend"? yep...avril lavigne... I would caution you against trying to make changes to your body too quickly. there is no easy way to lose weight. no matter if it is 10 pounds or 100, it is going to take time, dedication, and work. if you loose weight too quickly you may have problems with loose skin. but if you eat properly and exercise regularly results are possible. check with a doctor first to be sure you follow the right plan, once you get the go ahead from your doc, talk to a fitness instructor or personal trainer to get ideas of what you can do to make your workouts effective. I would also suggest talking with a nutritionist. that way you can develop an eating plan that optimizes your weight loss, but also provides you with a balanced diet. the only alternative to this is gastric bypass...and that is risky! as I said talk to your doc about your options and what is right for you! spaceyjc Tue, 29 Apr 2008 20:57:26 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/any_possible_way_to_lose_100_lbs 330394 Re: What eyeliner wont smudge? have you tried "setting" your pencil eyeliner with powder? ue a loose, translucent powder, close your eyes, and just lightly dust the pwder over your top and bottom lids. this works for me and I usually wear black pencil liner. spaceyjc Tue, 29 Apr 2008 20:26:33 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/what_eyeliner_wont_smudge 330364 Re: What's the best name you have heard so far? my daughter's name...London. and just to let you know, I named her before zack and cody was a show! lol spaceyjc Tue, 29 Apr 2008 20:20:03 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/what_s_the_best_name_you_have_heard 330355 Re: What do you think about eyeglasses? glasses can be a great fashion accessory! find the ones that make you feel comfortable with the glasses and you! also consider how the glasses will look with your wardrobe...are you sporty, casual, emo, prep, etc...just make sure you love em! spaceyjc Tue, 29 Apr 2008 20:18:07 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/what_do_you_think_about_eye_glasses 330352 Re: Ice cream sundae here's the most yummy ice cream sundae ever! its super sweet and rich, so not for the faint at heart! lol! your fave brownie on the bottom...then vanilla ice cream...then hot fudge...then heath or skor candy bar pieces...then whipped cream...and garnish it with...what the heck, just throw on some more of those YUMMY toffee candy bar peices...Mmmm! or theres this one...Oreo instant pie crust (find it with the graham cracker pie crusts in the store)...then soften your choice of vanilla, chocolate, or cookies and cream ice cream-but only soften it enough to spoon it into the pie crust and smooth it out...then lots of whipped cream- the kind that comes in a can is prettiest... drizzle some chocolate magic shell on the whipped cream-but only enough to make it pretty! then put it back in the freezer unitl 10 min before you need to eat it...let it soften just for the 10 minutes at room temp, slice into 8 wedges and stick a whole oreo into the whipped cream of each slice...ENJOY!---but I wouldnt eat all 8 slices all by yourself! lol spaceyjc Tue, 29 Apr 2008 20:12:59 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/ice_cream_sunday 330348 Re: Majors in school it is very common for an individual to change majors...even several times! I read that the average person changes their major 4 times during college! it isnt necessary to choose a major right away...I am sure you know that most often you can take 2 years to declare a major since most of the courses you will take in those first 2 years are generals and needed for most any major you declare. one exeption is if you are in school on a specific scholarship that would require you to have a major declared. whatever you do...take your time! it wouldnt be a tragedy if you had to go to college an extra year or even two because you discovered your lifes calling into your 3rd year of college, changed your major, and had to take additional courses for your new major...it happens all the time! the most important thing is to find something you love...and make a living at it! that is the best combo for success! good luck! spaceyjc Tue, 29 Apr 2008 19:59:04 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/majoring_in_school 330329 Re: Why are so many christian rituals the same as pagan ones? my point in asking 'why cant we all get along' and calling 'intollerence the enemy' was a personal statement. My sisters are jewish, I am christian, my husband is pagan, and my grandmother is catholic (yes, still christian, but a totally different culture religiously than my own beliefs)...I call my sisters to wish them happy channukah, celebrate halloween according to my husbands beliefs, and attend mass when I visit my grandmother. we love eachother and accept eachother exactly as we are. we embrace the differences in eachothers beliefs and realize it is part of what makes us the people that we are. I find that many of the people asking or respondong to questions about similarities in christianity/ paganism are one-sided and closed-minded...and I am referring to both christians and non-christians. so my comment was simply a plea to everyone to stop attacking eachother. I apologize if I came acoss as anything other than that. spaceyjc Tue, 29 Apr 2008 19:51:40 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/why_are_so_many_christian_rituals 330325 Re: Deep blackhead? go see a dermatologist. they can remove it without causing scarring. but be aware...it is very likely to come beck if it is that large and deep. good luck! spaceyjc Mon, 28 Apr 2008 14:11:34 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/deep_blackhead 328410 Re: Doctor isn't helping me if you feel you are not being helped by your current nurse, I would look for another doc to help. however, do not stop going to your nurse until your new doc takes over. and always be completely honest with your practitioner and yourself. and please do not give up! you are worth all the hard work you are doing! spaceyjc Mon, 28 Apr 2008 13:53:47 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/doctor_isn_t_helping_me 328392 Re: Why are so many christian rituals the same as pagan ones? does it really matter??? why do I continue seeing this same question over and over? every religious/non-religious belief structure has "borrowed" beliefs or practices...but one thing unites them all...the belief to treat others respectfully. if someone chooses to believe a certain way, its just that...their choice, no matter where the origins came from. tollerence is the key, intollerence is the enemy...not why we believe what we do or do not...cant we all just get along!!!??? spaceyjc Mon, 28 Apr 2008 13:18:08 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/why_are_so_many_christian_rituals 328340 Re: AKC question no. not at this point. if your male is purebreed, but for whatever reason you did not get papers with him, you can send in a pic and sometimes also a vet statement certifying that he/she believes your cocker to be purebreed. they review the info you have sent and can choose to register your dog as a purebreed and then issue you papers. at that time you could apply for litter papers. however, akc has rules that if you do not paper your male...your female can now never have her litters papered in the future since she bread with a non-papered male...even if you use a purebreed stud. crazy, I know, but true. spaceyjc Mon, 28 Apr 2008 13:05:11 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/akc_question 328314 Re: Double dads? I agree with ethmer! you can have twins from two different fathers if the twins are fraternal. identical twins form from one single egg being ferilized by one single sperm...and then spliting. their dna is exactly the same and so it is not possible to have this type of twins fathered by more than one man...however, fraternal twins are from two seperate eggs being fertilized by two seperate sperm...so in this case you could have more than one man, father fraternal twins. spaceyjc Mon, 28 Apr 2008 12:59:39 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/double_dads 328302 Re: Never had a boyfriend boyfriends come and go...and break your heart . dont feel left out. you have so much time in your life to date! and honestly, dating is so much better when you are in college! my sister waited until college and she feels happy for doing so. during high school she surrounded herself with friends, both guys and girls, and just had fun...and got to know herself and what she really wanted out of her life. she is now just as happy and has had so many more life expiriences than most people who wrap themselves up in a boyfriend or girlfriend! its ok to take your time! spaceyjc Mon, 28 Apr 2008 12:54:52 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/never_had_a_boyfriend_197262 328294 Re: Worried about being fat 5 foot 2 and 120 lbs is still in the acceptable, and NOT overweight range. I will never discourage anyone from working out for fitness sake...but I dont think at your weight you should be concerned with fat! work out and eat right to be healthy, fit, muscular...not thin! follow a responsible eating and exersice plan and you cant go wrong! and if you are still concerned, talk to your PE teacher, a fitness instructor, or even your doc and get advice from them. spaceyjc Mon, 28 Apr 2008 12:49:26 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/worried_1943 328282 Re: Would a d be failing or passing? check with the grading policy at your university/college. some do not accept anything below a C towards credit. spaceyjc Mon, 28 Apr 2008 12:45:01 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/would_a_d_be_failing_or_passing 328276 Re: Should I ask my 21-year-old daughter if she's gay? I dont know if I would ask her. does it really matter? will the answer make you love or accept her any less? will it cause a rift in your relationship if she answers you in a way that makes you uncomfortable? if she has not approached you with her orientation, then I would not ask her. she is an adult, and it is her call on letting you in on something that is a very private and personal choice. just love her no matter what, and let her be your daughter! spaceyjc Mon, 28 Apr 2008 12:43:59 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/should_i_or_shouldnt_i_6285 328273 Re: Getting a job at 15 contact the board of labor in your area, or maybe even city hall. I had a work permit when I was 15, and I worked in the mall. just be prepared that you may have a tougher time finding a job with the permit because it may restrict the time you are able to work until, or the number of hours you may work on a school day, or even for the entire week. and also realize that there may be areas of your work place that you will be restricted from working. if you work fast food, you may work the register, but not in the kitchen. it just depends on the laws in your area as well as the policies of the company you are working for. good luck! getting a first job is an exciting event in ones life! spaceyjc Mon, 28 Apr 2008 12:39:48 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/geting_a_job_at_15 328269 Re: Can you get pregnant if... the answer is yes. anytime semen comes in contact with the vaginal area it is possible to become pregnant. be sure to use a condom and that after sex, he removes his condom only after he has finished releasing fluid. always, always use a condom! spaceyjc Mon, 28 Apr 2008 12:32:49 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/pregnancy_2314 328260 Re: What would you do? obviously since this happened in passing you do not know the family or their life circumstances, or even what may have caused them to have their baby underdressed. it is entirely possible that they were just sorely negligent parents...but it is also possible that there were circumstances beyond their control that contributed to their seemingly act of unfitness. our house burned down in january 2007, and everything we owned burned with it...the red cross came out on site and brought a few clothing items, but not shoes or jackets! not for any of us, and I had 3 children at the time and was pregnant myself! we were in pj's and no shoes, no jackets, freezing outside at 6 in the morning, waiting for them to get there. they took us to a restaurant and bought us breakfast while we filled out paper work to recieve a prepaid visa card. the card was to cover the cost of food and some clothing. but when we left from our breakfast to go get the items, we still had no shoes or jackets. we had to walk into walmart in our bare feet! how embarrasing! could you imagine the looks we were getting! no one asked if we needed help, no one cared! they just cast a judgemental eye and made us feel as if we were unfit parents...as if we were not victimized enough by losing everything and narrowly escaping a raging housefire that left our home a total loss! My point is to be concerned enough to ask something simple like, "oh its chilly out here, I have an extra blanket for your baby if you need it." this alone will give you that glimpse into the cause of the childs state of undress without acusing or causing the parent to feel judged. if they tell you that he/she is fine, you have your answer. but you may find they will take you up on it! spaceyjc Mon, 28 Apr 2008 12:07:45 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/what_would_you_do_11821 328225
