FunAdvice Advice from: pascal http://www.funadvice.com/my/advice/pascal en-us Re: Shaving Pubic Hair You can try a brazilian wax. A brazilian wax, waxes EVERYTHING. The hair is removed and stays off anywhere from 10 days to 3 weeks. However I know that when you want to get your legs waxed the hair has to be a certain length and you may not want to wait for you hairs to get to a certain length to wax every couple of weeks. The waxing can cost anywhere from $25-$75 depending on how experienced your person is (just a tip I would go for a more experienced person). If you don't like pain, this is not for you. pascal Fri, 24 Mar 2006 12:05:51 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/shaving_pubic_hair 9995 Re: How Do I Tell When A Young Child Is Being Sexuallay Abused Being that your child is at the young age of 1 the signs are restricted due to her restricted communication and activities. For example in a child who is hold enough to interact with other children may behave sexually to their playmates. If the child is old enough to feed themselves they may have a loss for appetite. If the child was old enough to talk to you they may admit to having sudden nightmares, being afraid of being alone, etc. For this reason the few if any signs your child gives you must be taken seriously. In a theory about Psychological Development by Erik Erikson their is a stage in a human's life called "Trust versus Mistrust". This takes place from birth to the age of 18 months. It states that an infant is helpless therefore totally dependent on others for his needs. During this stage, the infant learns whether the world in which he lives can be trusted. When he is hungry and he cries, will he be fed? When he is unwell or afraid, will he be comforted? If an infant's physical and emotional needs are met in a consistent and caring way, he learns that his mother or caregiver can be counted on and he develops an attitude of trust in people. If his needs are not met, an infant may become fearful and learns not to trust the people around him. There are a series of events that can lead to why a child no longer feels safe or no longer trusts the people around him. However, if you child no longer trusts people in that one region on her body then it's a strong suggestion that something occured or is occuring that she is not comfortable with. The fact that she no longer trusts you might suggest that this was someone she felt completely safe with as she is with you that mistreated her in someway. This activity can be sexual abuse or it can merely be that someone was handling her rough causing her discomfort. For whatever the reason I would definitely be more selective as to who she has close contact with. This may be more difficult is she goes to daycare or if she is watched by a nanny, family friend, etc. If you are thoroughly concerned I would suggest talking with a specialist about her behavior. Even if you talk with her pediatrician about your suspicians and her behavior she may confirm your speculation with similar infant behavior. The bottom line is that when a child is being mistreated and can no longer trust openly at the age of 1 then further continuous of her being mistreated can damage the way she reacts to situations in her future. I hope I've been some help. Good luck. pascal Fri, 24 Mar 2006 12:01:14 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/how_do_i_tell_when_a_young_child 9994 Re: Old Emachines Desktop Computer Freezes, Is It A Hard Drive Issue? The first thing you want to do when you have issues with your pc is freezing is run a virus scan. Now you can do this by using your anti-virus software installed in your machine (and I hope you have anti-virus software)or you can visit http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ they have free over the internet virus scanning software. Once the scans are completed and no viruses are detected you can then move down to the next level of threat which is spyware. Spyware (which is software that installs itself into your machine without your knowledge through internet surfing or through some software installation) will cause your machine to slow down and act unstable causing applications to randomly hang or crash. Visit www.download.com, search for spybot or adware and download then install the anti-spyware software. Now if neither of the two are threats to your pc then we can move down to hardware troubleshooting. Check to see if your emachine came with any diagnostic cds, if it does then you can use the cds to run hardware tests which will test your hard drive to verify all the cylinders within the hard drive are spinning correctly. If this fails then you should go out and buy a new hard drive, they are cheap and easy to install. pascal Mon, 20 Mar 2006 20:40:50 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/old_emachines_desktop_computer_freezes 9701 Re: If I upgrade the ram on my vaio PC from 756 megs to 1.5 gigs, will that boost performance significantly? Replacing the three 256 meg dimm with a 1 gig dimm will improve the pc's performance. This is due to the fact that the system board will only have to read and write data to one chip as opposed to three different ones. This will improve the speed at which the cpu will be able to process resources and temporary files that are stored on the ram. You may also want to consider running anti-spyware software in your machine like spybot or adware. Spyware (which is software that installs itself into your machine without your knowledge through internet surfing or through some software installation) will cause your machine to slow down and act unstable causing applications to randomly hang or crash. Whats Going To Happen?!? Well, if he said he wants to do something special to you then just relax and sit back. If he really wants you to enjoy yourself then having a 69 (where both partners give oral sex at the same time) may be uncomfortable to you. There are different techniques he can do in giving you pleasure. He may be on his knees or on the bed, couch or floor with you. Don't be shy, if he's doing something that hurts or is irritating you just give him a little hint by pulling away slightly or softly telling him. Give him some encouragement too, if he's doing something right then show him by making certain sounds or saying something. Just relax and try to be comfortable. pascal Mon, 20 Mar 2006 18:42:43 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/eating_me_out_whats_going_to_happen 9687 Re: Liars First of all find out who you found out this information from. Do you think they will maliciously want you to get upset or angry with your guy. If you never said that to your guy then their should be no reason why he wants his friends to think your miserable and possesive. I wouldn't confront him just because you may not know if it's true. The best thing you can do is to drop hints and show him that you don't mind him hanging out with friends every once in a while. After all hanging out with different people is healthy in a relationship. Good luck with your relationship and try not to listen to what other people say unless you heard it straight from his mouth. pascal Mon, 20 Mar 2006 18:33:13 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/liars 9686 Re: Painting Easter Eggs Remember that you need to have the eggs hard boiled to begin. You can always buy the coloring kits in the store to get the paint and stand. The hardest thing to do is to paint an egg without a stand, having to hold it. However, it's not necessary to buy the kit. You can make your own stand with a small shot glass or a small empty lotion bottle top so that the egg can rest it's bottom somewhere. As far as the paints you can purchase any type of kid paints in your local supplies store. Make sure to have a lot of space and cover nearby floors and tables. To make if fun for the kids you can bring pictures of cartoon characters they're interested in and try to have them draw their head on the egg. Usually by having more than 3 or 4 kids together with paint, they'll find fun anywhere, don't worry. pascal Mon, 20 Mar 2006 18:23:21 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/painting_easter_eggs 9683 Re: Herbacious peonies survive in temperate or moderate climate? The money tree also known as a jade tree is succulent which cannot tolerate over-watering. It is found in hot, dry areas which experience a huge drop in temperature at night. Though it rarely flowers indoors, but if given the right conditions, like the cacti, it can produce tiny star like flowers which are white/pink in colour. As a houseplant, they resemble miniature trees and require good light to grow though you should not expose a young plant to full sunlight. Because yours is fully grown direct exposure to sunlight shouldn't hurt. Allow the soil to dry completely in between waterings and do not spray mist the plant. Under-watered succulents will have 'crinkled' leaves and over-watered ones will start to turn soft and yellow and start to drop. Because your leaves are crinkled and drooping you may need to water it more. Use a fertilizer specially formulated for cacti/succulents. This plant propagates easily with leafs planted with the bottom end in soil. This plant like all succulents is prone to mealy bug attack. pascal Mon, 20 Mar 2006 18:06:35 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/how_do_i_take_cafe_of_a_chinese_money 9680 Re: Diet Pills With your special high blood pressure you would have to talk with your doctor to discuss your options. I personally suggest not taking diet pills. They are so harmful to your body and can lead ot harmful diseases in your future. The damage the pills do to your body are irreversible and will sometimes make your health and body weight worse. Most people find themselves dependant on diet pills because they can only lose weight through pills and when they get off them, they eventually gain all the weight back. To be able to lose weight and keep it off you have to build up your metabolism this way with the least strenuous activites your body is still burning fat. The way to build up your metabolism and gain energy is to engage in cardio workouts. Try jogging or running for a half hour a day. By doing cardio your able to get your heart pumping and your whole body will get a workout. If you dislike running take it one step at a time. At first start off walking and then running for 5 minutes at a time. Alternate by walking for 2 minutes and running for 5 and eventually build your endurance up to running for 10 minutes straight, then 20 and then 30. You can run with music to pass the time quickly or have a friend come with you. I guarentee that if you continue to run 30 minutes a day for 5 days a week you will definitely see results in 4 weeks. By exercising and watching what you eat you will be able to lose weight while toning your body and gaining muscles. You won't be able to acheive the same results with diet pills, they will only lose the weight but still leave you with no muscle. Good luck pascal Mon, 20 Mar 2006 17:55:55 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/diet_pills 9678 Re: First Period Remember that your mother went through the same thing you're going through. I'm sure she will be thrilled to find out that you are entering your "womanhood". As corny as that sounds, it's a big step. Your mother will be able to help with questions that you don't have answers for and give you techniques she's learned on the way when dealing with cramps or which tampon/pad to use. It wouldn't hurt to tell her, she can only help you. pascal Mon, 20 Mar 2006 17:47:42 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/first_period 9675 Re: Thermal Reconditioning Thermal Reconditioning can be more damaging to your hair than dyeing or perming. For this reason you would have to fully shop around for the salons that have great experience and essentially know what they are doing. It's the stylist, not the chemical process, that matters. ONLY GO TO SOMEONE WITH EXPERIENCE, WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING, or else you are taking a risk with your hair. A lot of the steps involve judgment calls (for example, how long to leave the initial chemical on) that a stylist can only learn to do accurately with practice. This means that if you live in a fly-over state, there just may not realistically be a stylist near you yet who has substantial experience, and for that reason you may want to wait a year or two until TR becomes more popular and stylists are more familiar with it. Remember that this treatment is extremely expensive and therefore extremely profitable for salons, so many are rushing to jump on the bandwagon and offer it. Don't merely take their word for it -- research their expertise and how long they have been doing the process. Make sure they have attended the specialized training courses offered by Yuko. The hair may look healthier because it is shiny and sleek, but the treatment is much more damaging than a dye or perm, and you must be committed to taking good care of your hair, deep conditioning frequently, and not using permanent dyes or highlights in the future. Poor aftercare can result in the damage beginning to show, or even causing breakage in your hair. http://home.comcast.net/~gaelen/yuko.htm pascal Mon, 20 Mar 2006 17:44:03 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/thermal_reconditioning 9672 Re: Frizzy Hair They have many products in your local drug store that will help you keeping your curls defined without the frizz. One example is frizz ease that can be applied onto damp hair and let to dry naturally that will help lessen the frizz and keep your curls bouncy. Blow drying your hair will ultimately get your hair frizzy if you try to comb it through. If you have a diffuser than combined with the right products your curls should be tighter and less frizzy. pascal Mon, 20 Mar 2006 17:26:18 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/frizzy_hair 9668 Re: My Weight Question By checking your BMI (Body Mass Index) number you are underweight. Your BMI number indicates your weight in contrast to your height not taking into account your muscle or fat content. Your body frame can also determine how much you weigh, if you have a small frame you will naturally weigh less and if you are big boned than you will naturally weigh more. You can carry your weight well if you have more muscle than fat. You can visit this website »www.cdc.gov so you can visually see your number and at what point you are in the normal zone. If you are unsatisfied with how you look you can always tone up the areas that you most unhappy with. Remember to eat healthy foods and drink plenty of water to keep your body healthy. pascal Sun, 19 Mar 2006 23:34:37 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/my_weight_question 9625 Re: Weight Exercise bikes are mainly great for working your lower body. If you keep your abs tight while pedaling you may be able to tighten up in your stomach area as well. Another way to work out abs is to run for 25-30 minutes a day. The ultimate way to lose extra pounds in your tummy is to have specific exercises designed for the ab muscles such as crunches and sit-ups. If you find that those exercises hurt your lower back you can try a yoga position called "plank". "Plank" is simply positioning yourself as if you're going to do a push-up on your toes and hands and remaining in that position for 30 seconds at a time. Repeat this for 10-12 times. While holding this position remember to keep your ab muscles tight and contracted. pascal Sun, 19 Mar 2006 23:27:56 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/weight_3221 9624 Re: How can I conceive? Be prepared to have a rough time at first. After you go through an abortion your utirine lining is weak. When you are concieving the fertilized egg has to attach to the uterine lining (implantation) and from there the growing process begins. If your uterine lining is weak than it will be harder for the fertilized egg to attach. This may not be the case with you but keep this in mind if you find that you're having problems. As far as trying to conceive the best times to get pregnant is when you are ovulating. Visit this website to figure out the days you're ovulating. http://www.4woman.gov/Pregnancy/ovulation1.cfm They require to enter the number of days in your cycle. This is the number of days counting from when you finish your last period up until the day you get your next one. I suggest averaging a couple of months together if you are not regular. However if you are regular each month, meaning that you're period is predictable then you're ovulating average would be accurate. Try to conceive during those days and keep an open mind and give yourself time. Funadvice and other sites is a new and different way of meeting people that can really cater to individuals who are shy or with low self-esteems. If you're looking to just meet people and talk about interests and hobbies than there is no reason they should know where you live, street address, last name, etc. As long as you withhold information that is too personal or irrelevant to your conversation than things should work out fine. pascal Sun, 19 Mar 2006 23:07:55 -0800 http://www.funadvice.com/q/is_it_safe 9622 Re: Painful Periods If your cramps are as severe as you say then you may have the condition You probably have Dysmenorrhea. Symptoms may begin one to two days before menses, peak on the first day of flow, and subside during that day or over several days. The pain is typically described as dull, aching, cramping and often radiates to the lower back. The pain from your period that is severe enough to be given this name by your health care provider is thought to be the result of uterine contractions, caused by prostaglandins (a hormone-like substance, normally found in your body). Prostaglandins are known to stimulate uterine contractions. In addition to pain other symptoms may include, headache, diarrhea, constipation, and urinary frequency and fainting. Visit your doctor and he will be able to subscribe any specific medications to releive your cramps other than painkillers. Birth control has also helped with alleviating cramps during menstruation. If you feel he might like the other girls he's around than you might be jealous. If you are jealous than try to find comfort in the fact that you know he wants you and loves to be around you. Try to put yourself in his position, sometimes you and your friends hang around guys and girls not because you want to hook up but because you have fun talking or just joking around. If you can put yourself in the situation and feel that you won't be guilty or find anything wrong with it then try to lighten up.
