FunAdvice Advice from: meggs http://www.funadvice.com/my/advice/meggs My name is Megan. I am a medical student in Nova Scotia Canada. I am great for lending a helping hand, just drop me a line if I can be of assistance. en-us Re: where is the 'cherry pop' thing located? Excuse me mr_smedheader ... I am a doctor, are you? why don't you do your research. Well, don't go diagnosing yourself... that just makes things worse. First off, if you can accept what people are saying (you are skinny) - you do not have anorexia. You just have the typical teenage girl body image. meggs Wed, 02 Aug 2006 13:55:10 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/why_do_i_think_i_m_fat_when_i_m_skinny 18171 Re: Unknown No! Most women get sore breasts before their period. It just means there is a change in your horomones. meggs Wed, 02 Aug 2006 13:52:57 -0700 18170 Re: MY Vagina? This is your clitoris! It is a jumble of nerve endings that can be used for pleasure. When you are aroused, is becomes engorges with blood, making it bigger. meggs Thu, 27 Jul 2006 13:17:03 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/my_vagina 17688 Re: -- I think I have a UTI. Help? -- Oh gosh yes!!! Most often, they are gotten from wiping back to front, tight underwear. It is not considered a sexually transmitted disease at all. It is just bacteria. meggs Wed, 26 Jul 2006 19:30:22 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/i_think_i_have_a_uti_help 17610 Re: brownish vaginal discharge before period? This is normal. You period "blood" is not actually all blood. It has nutrients and proteins etc. This brown discharge is just the first layer of your period - which is stacked full of nutrients, which makes it brown. Leg cramps and bloating are 100% normal. My suggestion is to take ibuprofin, it wil help a lot. meggs Wed, 26 Jul 2006 11:36:22 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/brownish_vaginal_discharge_before 17563 Re: Is this skanky? I do not care what anyone else thinks or says to you. No, you are not old enough to make that decision yet. You have not had enough life experience to be responsible enough to have sex. So, don't do it. meggs Tue, 25 Jul 2006 21:23:37 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/is_this_skanky 17504 Re: Does it hurt to get it in the ass it depends. If your partner knows how to properly do it, no. If your partner doesn't - it will. There is a sphincter muscle in your anus that pushes things out, not in. meggs Tue, 25 Jul 2006 21:20:52 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/does_it_hurt_to_get_it_in_the_ass 17503 Re: Recurring Yeast Infection Help! This could also be not a yeast infection. There are some STD's that act like a yeast infection. A thinck discharge is more likely to mean an infection. You should probably consult your doctor. meggs Mon, 24 Jul 2006 14:35:28 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/woman_s_health 17365 Re: -- I think I have a UTI. Help? -- A urinanry tract infection is nothing to be worried about. Not everyone with a UTI has symptoms, but most people get at least some symptoms. These may include a frequent urge to urinate and a painful, burning feeling in the area of the bladder or urethra during urination. It is not unusual to feel bad all over—tired, shaky, washed out—and to feel pain even when not urinating. Often women feel an uncomfortable pressure above the pubic bone, and some men experience a fullness in the rectum. It is common for a person with a urinary infection to complain that, despite the urge to urinate, only a small amount of urine is passed. The urine itself may look milky or cloudy, even reddish if blood is present. Normally, a UTI does not cause fever if it is in the bladder or urethra. A fever may mean that the infection has reached the kidneys. Other symptoms of a kidney infection include pain in the back or side below the ribs, nausea, or vomiting. In children, symptoms of a urinary infection may be overlooked or attributed to another disorder. A UTI should be considered when a child or infant seems irritable, is not eating normally, has an unexplained fever that does not go away, has incontinence or loose bowels, or is not thriving. Unlike adults, children are more likely to have fever and no other symptoms. This can happen to both boys and girls. The child should be seen by a doctor if there are any questions about these symptoms, especially a change in the child's urinary pattern. meggs Mon, 24 Jul 2006 12:38:20 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/i_think_i_have_a_uti_help 17361 Re: Is it possible to... That is called spotting. It is because you lost a level of horomone. When you go off the pill for that week, you have a period. This is around 22-25 weeks. This just means when the baby is able to live outside the womb. Before 23 weeks, it would die because it is not developed enough. This is just due to different amounts of horomones being absorbed by the tissues etc. Your breasts will even out, don't worry. Megan meggs Wed, 19 Jul 2006 20:19:31 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/breast_problems 16957 Re: asking for professional help Me being in the medical field, I believe that you have what we call "medical student syndrome" ... this is when you see a list of symptoms, it magnifies your symptoms so that it "fits" ... you may be going through a minor depression, but nearly 100% of the population does. I don't think you need any type of medication, but some therapy would help, just to talk your feelings out. You do not even need your mother to know, just go to your family doctor and tell him everything you have said on here... and he will refer you to a psychologist. Right now, the best think you can do for yourself is stop thinking about it. Stop looking on the internet at symptoms and signs and types - you are digging yourself in a deeper rut by doing this. Live your life and do things that make you happy. Megan meggs Wed, 19 Jul 2006 20:15:30 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/asking_for_professional_help 16955 Re: Is it a std? You need to go to your doctor and give a history for them to know. They will ask: 1)did you have unprotected sex in the last month 2)do you know his sexual history anyway, without knowing anything - I would say you need to have an internal exam and a swab for chlamydia and gonnorhea... but it might just be a yeast infection or a urinary tract infection. These guys are doing it to fit in. He is trying to act cool by saying he was hung over for three days. Unless he has chronic liver failure, that is medically impossible. I am a doctor in Canada. Your liver and kidney's filter out alcohol within 8 hours, unless you consume too much - which would result in alcohol posioning. There is a reason why you are not supposed to drink under 21. It is because your organs have not matured enough to be able to handle alcohol. Trust me, by choosing not to drink - you are saving yourself from a lot of potential problems. Underage drinking has been studied to be a cause of - poor school grades and hence, less chance at being admitted to college - liver failure - liver cancer - heart problems - sleeping disorders - alcohol dependancy be strong, 12 is way to young to be worrying about this issue. Ditch these guys and find yourself a friend you can do make-overs with. I know this means nothing to you, but I was there once. I was bullies very bad as a teen. I was stabbed in the stomach and almost failed school because I was so scared. I would leave for school in the morning and go and hide in the woods til the end of the night. I never thought I was pretty, I never thought I was smart. I am now a successful woman. I am a doctor in canada. I have a wonderful boyfriend and a great life. I was diagnosed with depression when I was 14 and have had to take meds. What I am trying to say is it will get better. When you are older, all those girls that picked on you will have kids by 17, be addicted to drugs and be going NO WHERE. Trust me, please. My advice is go to your physician. Tell him or her what you said on this site. They can get help for you, often at little or no cost - and if you have insurance, it will cost you nothing. If you want to talk, from someone who has been there - please sned me a funmail through this site. While on Depo-provera, you are NOT supposed to have a period. The horomones are in your body constantly, unlike the pill which you have a week long break to have a period. Depo is very effective, about 99.7%. Before you have your new shot (every 13 weeks), you should do an at home pregnancy test, because in the event that you are pregnant - Depo could have some complications. What you are experiencing is normal, so do not worry. Also, Once you go off of Depo-Provera, you may not have a period for up to a year or more. This is a very powerful birth control and can have lasting effects on your body. As a doctor, I will most of the time suggest women going on the pill before resorting to Depo. The pill can be stopped immediately, has minimal side effects and gives you the security of having a perios every month. If you find some make you sick, try a low dose. I reccomend tri-Cyclin low. It mimcs your natural cycle closer and has a very low dose. meggs Sun, 16 Jul 2006 11:47:22 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/birthcontrol_problem 16690 Re: am I a sex addict A rape fantasy is a very common fantasy. You are 14, it is normal for you to be curious about sex. Reading about it and thinking about it is healthy. But having sex right now for you is irresponsable. Ultimately, you do not know what you are getting into. Rape, is not about sex. That is what is done - but men who rape women do it to be in control of someone else. They do it to hurt you. Most women who get raped, were raped by someone they know. This ruins relationships and makes you feel like you made a mistake. Although this fantasy is common, don't act on it. When you are older and have a very COMMITED boyfriend and a comfortable, open sex life; ask him to act out this fantasy for you.
