All parents are different and have their own ideas about modeling, maybe yours just have the wrong idea about how models eat, and have health issues with the modeling idea. Your parents could also just be concerned about how you would take it if you got shut down by some agencies. They're not necessary, it only matters if you feel its more comfortable than using a napkin. It doesn't necessarally 'hurt' when you use it, you just need to make sure you know what your doing before you go ahead and use one. It may sound a little gross at first, but make sure to read the little instructions that come in the boxes, if you still cant figure out if you should use one or not, ask your mom or if you have an older sister.
