FunAdvice Advice from: eleni http://www.funadvice.com/my/advice/eleni en-us Re: Why isn't there proof of evolution? I see the creationist trolls are giving out zero ratings again. How sad. eleni Wed, 16 Jul 2008 05:09:36 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/evolution_2 428591 Re: Other Gods It makes more sense to me that people created all these gods and the somewhat arbitrary rules that go with their worship. eleni Wed, 16 Jul 2008 05:07:31 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/other_gods 428588 Re: Why are americans all fat Although we do have access to more calories and we do enjoy them, I think one reason why we are getting bigger is because we don't have to do as much physical activity to make money or grow food any more. Our genes are programmed for physical labor but we have neither the need nor the desire to do so much of it these days. eleni Tue, 15 Jul 2008 16:45:37 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/why_are_americans_all_fat 427745 Re: Why isn't there proof of evolution? There are mountains of evidence. In fact, we've been collecting evidence since the mid 1800's and it confirms the theory of evolution (remember that a scientific theory is the best explanation for a body of data and not just some guess). As I said before, Google is your friend. Read some articles. Find some research. Ask questions! eleni Tue, 15 Jul 2008 16:43:10 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/evolution_2 427740 Re: Evolution Sure we are all evolving now - rather, our populations are evolving. And evolution isn't always a slow process - sometimes it happens rather quickly. It's not too hard to find the studies if you really want to read up on it. Google is your friend. eleni Tue, 15 Jul 2008 16:41:41 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/evolution_103854 427736 Re: Man made He'd go to the poor and the homeless and bring them food and clothes. I don't think He wouldn't set foot in most of our American churches. They would make him weep. eleni Tue, 15 Jul 2008 16:36:35 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/man_made 427733 Re: Atheists know a lot more about christianity than christians? One reason why some atheists know more about (all the various types of) Christianity than most Christians is because we grew up believing and, as part of our break with the faith, educated ourselves in all aspects. For example, if Jill continues to be a Baptist, she will likely only pay much attention to Baptist dogma and interpretation. But if Jill struggles with her faith and searches for answers, she will likely encounter the other forms of Christianity as well. Another reason might be because many of us really want to understand truth so we study these things very much. eleni Tue, 15 Jul 2008 16:33:49 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/athiests 427728 Re: Genisis 1:27 The whole fall from grace thing makes no sense to me anyway. The sin was disobedience but they had not yet eaten from the Tree of Knowledge (of Good and Evil) yet in order to even understand they were disobeying. They could only realize the wrongness of the act AFTER they had committed it. In my mind, that pretty much tells me that the whole story has nothing to do with human morality. eleni Tue, 15 Jul 2008 16:30:11 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/genisis_1_27 427721 Re: Legalizing suicide I say yes. We aren't given the choice whether to live but we certainly should be able to decide when we die. If an individual cannot make that most basic and important of choices, how can he possibly be a free person? eleni Sat, 12 Jul 2008 17:31:55 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/legalizing_suicide 422693 Re: Pre-marital sex a sin? It is a sin for Christians. Whether it's right or wrong for you depends on your situation and your morality. That's something you have to decide. eleni Sat, 12 Jul 2008 08:10:53 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/pre_marital_sex 422165 Re: Lots of dead people...can you feel them? Maybe ghosts don't exist and that's why we don't feel them. eleni Thu, 10 Jul 2008 18:36:45 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/lots_o_dead_people_can_you_feel_em 419853 Re: Eve and adam There are some churches that believe the races were created before Adam and Eve. They say that this is what is meant by the 2 different creation accounts in Genesis (God makes male and female at one time; later he makes Adam, then Eve separately). I think it's just a myth anyway but it was not uncommon for siblings to marry in ancient times. eleni Thu, 10 Jul 2008 18:34:53 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/eve_and_adam 419850 Re: Where to download free audiobooks? If you want it all together, try Librivox.com. eleni Wed, 09 Jul 2008 18:05:08 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/audio_books 418241 Re: Is it wrong or right to miss 61% of the votes you should be in on? Yes, rickd. Yes, as long as we remember that morality is supposed to govern how we treat others and is not a tool to dictate to others how they should live. eleni Tue, 08 Jul 2008 17:43:17 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/inventory 416649 Re: For the Catholics, Let me also say that I'm very sorry for the pain you and your family have gone through. Although I don't believe in hell, I also don't believe that God would send a person to hell for suicide. As someone who has attempted suicide 3 times, I can tell you that a suicidal person is not thinking clearly and isn't really responsible for his or her actions. Wherever your father is, I believe with all my heart he is at peace. eleni Mon, 07 Jul 2008 19:29:59 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/for_the_catholics 415036 Re: Why does everyone hate Athiests? I agree that ignorance and prejudice accounts for most of this hatred. However, we should be honest that some atheists behave badly and do not represent our community well. Although I know firsthand the frustration and anger that comes from being hated, I know that I must always try to behave well and do what is right by others. That's the only way they will ever come to know that most of us atheists are just ordinary folks. eleni Mon, 07 Jul 2008 19:27:42 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/why_does_everyone_hate_athiests 415027 Re: For the Catholics, Silverwings, I believe the idea did originate with Catholics but the teaching appears to have changed over time. eleni Mon, 07 Jul 2008 16:44:43 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/for_the_catholics 414831 Re: Christian scripture pertaining to getting your prayers answered? rnealw, That's probably one of the most ignored verses in the New Testament. It's ridiculous to think that the world will end when the Mayan calendar stops. It's equally ridiculous to think that anyone can predict the exact day or time. I don't recall any of my liberal friends saying Obama is special. I've never said it either. I wondered why I got some zeroes on good answers. LOL I rate answers based on how helpful, informative and on topic they are. Lots of answers that I totally disagree with have gotten good ratings from me. eleni Tue, 01 Jul 2008 14:19:07 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/did_any_other_christians_notice_this 406353 Re: How do you know if any religion is a 100 perecent stable I don't believe that any religion is 100% stable and true in that they have all changed and almost all of them are demonstrably false. If you want to get closest to the truth, you'll have to study them closely and find one that does not contradict established scientific fact. Next, you'll need to look at the religious teachings and see whether they produce good or bad results. That should narrow things down enough for you to choose the one you think is best. eleni Tue, 01 Jul 2008 14:17:06 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/hey_yall_122726 406351
