I am available to answer health related questions. Please understand that I will never attempt to offer a symptom diagnosis. If you are concerned about a possible illness. You need to see a doctor immediately.

Re: How much do the doctors have to tell my parents?

Since "BULIMIA" is considered a mental illness rather than a physical illness by most professionals your parents will have to become involved. Doctors have an ethical stance to protect their patients when it comes to non life threating physical issues. If you became pregnant your doctor could protect your privacy and most likely would. Since your illness now could have dire consequences if left untreated he could be liable because you are a minor. If you are under the age of 16 you do not have privacy rights under the law anyway.

If your body has not become effected with the side effects of this illness you can reach out to a counselor. School counselors can be very helpful with directing you to another counselor that can help you with this particular problem on a pro bono bases and "would" most likely keep your condition confidential since they are held to a different standard when it comes to juveniles.

Re: Is emancipation the right thing?

I was emancipated when my parents died. The process took over 9 months and it was expedited. I can't imagine it would be any quicker today. By the time your request goes through you will be 18 anyway. Bid your time and wait it out.

Re: How can I lose weight the right way?

Changing your diet will benefit you the most. Exercise without proper diet is pointless. Cutting out some of the major (Bad for you foods) will show some results right away.

1. White Bread
2. White Rice.
3. White Potatoes
4. High fructose type foods
5. Sugar
5. Juices or Sodas, Apple Juice, Gatorade etc. (All filled with high quantities of Sugar)

Simply cutting the above out of your daily diet will put you on to a good start. Walking for an hour a day will also get your body adjusted to working out. Bike for an hour, try increasing your pace slowly. So your body can adjust. Shocking your body into hard paced workouts is never good. Dive in slowly and you will notice the pounds melt away and you will start to feel better.

It's how you plan to gain weight that is important. Eating Garbage is not the best way to gain those extra pounds. Not that you do but there is allot of interest in that area when one tries to gain weight. Eat higher counts of protein and Carbs. Carbs will satisfy your metabolism while the protein will ad pounds. Kind of tricking your body.

Re: How can I lose 100lbs in a year?

You have answered your own question. The best option for you is to get your dad involved in your weight loss. Explain to him that you feel the need to get healthy. You want to lose the excess weight you have and that need him to support your decision. Maybe ask him to take a walk with you. Make it a competition see who can walk further, or how far you can walk each day. I think if you chose to include your father rather than exclude him you may see more support.

Good luck

The most common would be "Endometriosis"

it's symptoms include painful menstruations and since most women who have continued problems in this area are typically diagnosed with this condition. Until you were fully examined and certain tests were run one could not be sure since there are many conditions that include painful menstruations.

Re: How can I lose some of this weight?

This is tricky, I don't want to scare you. There are several possible reasons for this. The most common is genetics. Your body takes on quite a bit of your parents and their parents genes. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about this. If your immediate relatives have a predisposition to weight gain you will most likely have the same problem.

Now if you find you are quite different than the rest of your family you will need to get checked right away. The biggest medical cause for weight gain is an abnormal pituitary gland or hypothyroidism. There are some others like Cushings. It is most likely you have none of these and are in fact just feeling the repercussions of a slow metabolism.

There is a program that speeds the metabolism but I believe it is best that you see your physician to get the best diagnosis.

Re: Why can't I have a baby?

Well this is a health question, So I will treat is as such. Pregnancy is a gift that not all women are blessed with. There are different factors involved that determine weather or not a women can conceive a child.

Also you must factor in that there may be a chance your partner is unable to conceive.

Your best option would be to contact a fertility doctor and discuss your concerns with him or her. There inexpensive tests that can be done to see if in fact you have a fertility problem. Your earlier miscarriage shows that there could be a problem but most likely not directly related to a fertility problem. Some bodies just cannot handle the changes that come with pregnancy.

Bottom line is you need to discuss this situation with a physician in this field.

Re: Is my period schedule a problem? (continued)

No birth control is 100% you should always use additional contraception. This will also protect you from different STDS.

Increasing your dosage will decrease the length of your current cycle. You need to discuss this with your doctor of course and have a routine examination to make sure there are no other problems we are unable to see. But light dosages are the number one factor in your symptom.

Good luck

Re: How aids and std's hurt teens?

Well the answer is simple. Instead of letting the disease die with the patient it is continued by uneducated individuals who feel that to have unprotected sex is simply just a better option.

See when Teens are educated through the school system about Aids and it's affects on the population. The have a simple answer, It will never happen to me. The problem with this is it does happen to you and will continue to happen to you until you get smart about it. What teens are doing is keeping the disease alive. If we would just simply let the disease die with the people who have it and quit infecting even more people. When younger people get the disease they are not just killing off the current generation of teens. They are keeping the disease alive for the next generation a generation of teens who haven't even been born yet.

The same goes for STD'S

Re: How a heart doctor evaluates a patient for cad?

well the initial test will be a risk test. Usually a family history is taken to see if you are an actual CAD risk patient. By asking this question I am assuming you believe that their is possible symptoms. If guidelines or symptoms fall in to a CAD diagnosis a list of test are usually preformed.
Electrocardiogram (ECG), Exercise stress test, Echocardiogram, Nuclear heart scan, Coronary angiography

There are other possible tests that could be done but it would just be overkill. Usually diagnosis can be made with a simple ECG.
