Yes you could be pregnant if you aren't on the pill and aren't using other birth control and you had sex. canoehead Sun, 29 Jun 2008 10:40:25 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/coming_off_the_pill 403152 Re: Omnipod pump Pumps in general give people a more immediate control over their sugars, they can dial up or down their amount of insulin, but they must be very knowledgeable and responsible. Placing the needle is no more uncomfortable than a regular insulin injection and you only need to change it every three days. If her sugars go up and down wildly a pump can allow her to up/down her dose immediately, according to what she needs. If she's fairly stable a long acting insulin like Lantus might require less maintainence with occasional sliding scale injections for when her sugars really go up. canoehead Sun, 29 Jun 2008 10:28:51 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/omnipod 403149 Re: Omnipod pump Pumps in general give people a more immediate control over their sugars, they can dial up or down their amount of insulin, but they must be very knowledgeable and responsible. Because of the time ova and sperm live within a woman you could have conceived about 3 days plus or minus that date. canoehead Sun, 29 Jun 2008 10:07:16 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/16_weeks_and_3_days_pregnant 403133 Re: How a heart look's at heart attack? Your brain runs solely on glucose for energy. Your body must burn fat stores and reduce your basal metabolism to compensate for the lack of energy. Burning fat produces more acid and ketones than eating food- hard on all your body organs if it continues for any amount of time. Meantime your brain it only hitting on 4 of it's 6 cylinders (you can't learn or process information as well as you should.) When your basal metabolism goes down it stays down even after you start to eat again, making it easier for you to gain weight, and much harder to lose. canoehead Sun, 29 Jun 2008 10:03:39 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/why_is_it_so_bad 403130 Re: Am I allowed to move out at 17? Right after a D&C you won't get pregnant because there is no lining where the embryo normally implants itself. Wait until you've had a couple normal cycles before you expect a pregnancy. canoehead Sat, 09 Jun 2007 04:10:29 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/tyring_to_get_pregnant 62210 Re: What can i take or do to help me pass a drug test? Most phone books have a crisis hotline listed, and those people know how to connect you to resources cheaply. Flu can also cause other problems that make you fell sick longer, so your doc could help you with those. You may need an antibiotic. canoehead Sat, 09 Jun 2007 04:00:52 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/the_flu 62207 Re: Could I be pregnant? Atarax is sedating, and Silvadene is just an antibacterial cream. By the time you get an MD appt the worst will be over. If it's just bright pink and peeling I would keep going the way you are. I worked as a swimming instructor when I was in high school and forgot my sunblock the first day- 8 hours in the blazing sun, and I HAD to go back day after day with the burn. I used baby diaper rash cream. It's soothing and blocks the sun rays with the zinc oxide. I looked kind of silly but I felt a whole lot better. canoehead Sat, 09 Jun 2007 03:56:31 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/should_i_go_to_the_doctor_for_my 62205 Re: How can I make sure I don't have my period? You can ask your doc for a week of hormone therapy just for this special occasion to delay your period. You'll go right back to normal afterwards. canoehead Sat, 09 Jun 2007 03:52:02 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/peroid_and_weddings 62204 Re: How can breast produce milk when not pregnant? You want to? Or someone is producing it? If you want to you need a hormone therapy program put together by an endocrinologist. If someone is they need to see a doc because their reproductive hormones and/or their breast tissue needs medical attention, possibly a sign of cancer, so don't wait. canoehead Sat, 09 Jun 2007 03:48:37 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/how_can_breast_produce_milk_when 62203 Re: what is the name of an inherited skin disease? High BP absolutely will affect you ability to have children- you can get pregnant but carrying a baby to term puts stress on your kidneys and heart, and so does a high BP. Depending on how much damage has been done already you may have a premature child, or do more damage to your own kidneys and blood vessels. You need to talk to your doc before getting pregnant. Irregular periods probably don't have much to do with the high BP. If they recommend you stay in the hospital I would comply and fix the BP problem ASAP. canoehead Sat, 09 Jun 2007 03:45:13 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/will_my_health_hurt_my_odds_of_becomming 62201 Re: How can I calm a nauseous stomach? Small bland snacks like crackers my help. A medicine like Maalox that coats your stomach usually helps a nervous stomach. canoehead Sat, 09 Jun 2007 03:40:38 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/feeling_like_throwing_up_any_ideas 62200 Re: Can someone OD and die from Acetaminophen? Tylenol is one of the more tortuous methods of killing yourself. It doesn't take much, but after the initial feeling sick period you will get better, and then die of liver failure days or years later, depending on the dose you took. If you are caught and treated immediately after the OD you will get a hose in your stomach to drain the meds out, and tube in your bladder to measure your pee and you take a medicine that smells like rotten eggs every couple of hours to counteract the OD. You may be restrained. You won't have any sedation or pain meds tahe we would otherwise give because- d'uh- you've just OD'ed and we want your body to use all it's resources to filter out the Tylenol, and not have to work on any other meds. The rule of thumb is no more than 4G of Tylenol every 24hours, but rarely people can get liver damage from even that much- especially if they are drinking at the same time. canoehead Sat, 09 Jun 2007 03:37:48 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/drug_overdose 62199 Re: Can a 14-year-old get a job in health care? I don't think there is much direct care that a 14yo can do, but most hospitals have volunteer departments that allow you to get on the floors and interact directly with the patients. The longer you are there and the better the nurses know you, the more they will ask you to do. If the hospitals don't want you the nursing homes surely would, if only to read to people, or man the dayroom or kitchen and help the residents. You may be able to get parttime jobs in the kitchen, or maintenance department, but probably wouldn't have much patient contact. When you are older try taking a CNA course, canoehead Sat, 09 Jun 2007 03:31:19 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/health_care 62198
