FunAdvice Advice from: 1stsergeant http://www.funadvice.com/my/advice/1stsergeant en-us Re: Celtic music Check out Whiskey in the Jar, or Drunken Sailor. Black Bear is very good. There are a few bands that do some sort of modernized celtic music that I sort of like. One of them is Hunting McLeod, the other is Greenwich Meantime. They are kind of underground but if you can get a hold to some of their music you might like it. 1stsergeant Thu, 22 May 2008 17:13:28 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/celtic_music 356396 Re: I'm very disturbed how do I lie and convince people im not? You shouldn't lie to people for any reason, especially not to augment their opinion of you. If they can't hack the way you are then they can go hang around someone else. I wish I could answer your question, but all I can say is that you should not be dishonest with anyone. They'll come to accept you for who you are. 1stsergeant Mon, 21 Apr 2008 16:36:11 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/i_m_very_disturbed 319826 Re: Any good black metal bands? Job For a Cowboy, Lamb of God, Nile, Winds of Plague, Bloodsimple, Incantation, Celtic Frost, All Shall Perish, Decapitated, Beneath the Massacre. If I think of some others I'll let you know, this might not be what you're looking for, but most of it is pretty heavy. I hope I helped. 1stsergeant Mon, 21 Apr 2008 11:37:42 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/any_good_black_metal_bands 319468 Re: Are freckles ugly? Freckles aren't ugly and you can't really get rid of them. They are just concentrated groups of melanin. It's a genetic thing. Personally, I think they're sexy. 1stsergeant Thu, 17 Apr 2008 17:24:34 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/freckles_7089 315987 Re: Favorite body part of the opposite sex? The area where a girls butt becomes her leg is very nice. The neck and I think probably the hips, if that makes sense. 1stsergeant Thu, 17 Apr 2008 07:16:43 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/ladies_and_gents 315428 Re: How to tell my mom I am depressed I think that it would probably be best to tell your mother that you are in counseling first and then explain to her why. Just tell her that you are very upset. Tell her simply that you are very depressed and that you are seeking help for it. That is all you really can do. I don't know your mom, obviously, but I don't think that she would judge you for the way you feel. Seeing as how you are her daughter I would hope that she would want to help you. I know that it may be very difficult to tell her what you are feeling, but I think you need to. If there is anything you need to ask me just contact me personally. 1stsergeant Wed, 16 Apr 2008 18:02:13 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/how_to_tell_my_mom_i_am_depressed 314794 Re: What color of hair do you like better? I've seen my dad about ten times since then. He's an asshole so I don't really worry about it. 1stsergeant Tue, 15 Apr 2008 11:54:35 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/divorced_parents 313023 Re: Hey do you know any cadence? Ask her to come over and watch a movie that she likes or something, a really cheesy one. Just bring up the weekend and see what she's up to. If you don't feel comfortable with that, or if you think that she will not feel comfortable with that, you need to figure out a less oppressive approach. You don't have to take her to a candle lit dinner with a glass of red wine and roses, you just have to be alone with her so you can speak more in depth about relationship, sometimes this is just a cup of coffee after school or what have you. In any case you have to approach her, and your intentions are going to be rather obvious, you just have to accept that, there is no way to avoid it, or need to. Another tip I'd like to give you is that you must not try to plan what you are going to say, or what she is going to respond with. Just go with it. Act and react. You're silly on the spot responses are going to be one of your most useful tools if you are a very shy person. Be confident and trust in your ability to convey your feelings for her. I hope this has helped you and good luck. 1stsergeant Thu, 10 Apr 2008 05:53:06 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/asking_a_girl_out_1307 305857 Re: How to stop smoking? You just need to distance yourself from cigarettes. If you can function without access to niccotine, do so. Tell your friends that you've decided to quit smoking, you'd be surprised that they will respect you for it. Everyone who smokes kind of wants to quit, they're all afraid of addiction, even if they never show it. The most important thing to do is to deny yourself the ability to acquire cigarettes, if you don't have them you can't smoke them. Once you get away from the ability to smoke, you start to think about it less and less, and it eventually becomes a nonissue. It will be difficult at first rest assured, but it is very possible, if you possess the will. If this doesn't help you, I am very sorry, but that's all I know to tell you. Good luck. 1stsergeant Wed, 09 Apr 2008 18:49:41 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/someone_please_help_me_1070 305312 Re: Blondes, Brunettes or Gingers? redheads my friend, without question. 1stsergeant Wed, 09 Apr 2008 18:34:05 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/blondes_brunettes_or_gingers 305284 Re: Should I have sex? You just need to take it easy. All guys are horny bastards, that's probably never going to change, but the age group that you belong to is a little worse than most I'd say. As time goes on I think you will most likely begin to think less about it. Other things will begin to rise in importance and you will figure out that there is a time and place in your life for girls. You need wait until you find someone that you really care about before you are so willing to give away a thing as valuable as your virginity. It is a pretty big deal no matter how cool your friends are trying to sound. Don't listen when someone tries to tell you that it's no big deal, it should mean a lot to you. 1stsergeant Wed, 09 Apr 2008 17:42:33 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/sex_shuld_i_or_not 305201 Re: How do you know if a guy likes you? Eye contact is an important factor in determining whether some guy likes you or not. If you find yourself consistently locking eyes with a dude, you should be able to tell, really. If not, the next time you find yourself looking at him and he's looking at you, give him a little smirk and look away. If he laughs or smiles, that's a pretty good sign that he's into you. There are plenty of ways to test the waters without putting yourself on the line. You just have to pay really close attention to the way he reacts to you. Ask him what time it is, see what he does. Pass him really closely in the hallway or something, if he watches you the whole time, something is there. If he pays no attention to you what so ever, then the chances are he doesn't like you. Some guys are really good actors however. If he shows none of these signs and you still have a hunch, you could always try interrogating his best friend or something. Good luck. 1stsergeant Wed, 09 Apr 2008 17:34:53 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/i_dont_know_what_to_do_13 305184 Re: Should I homeschool? Personally I would not choose to be homeschooled. I think that the social aspect of school is very important. Even though at times it may not be very comfortable, it plays a large role in preparing you for later life. Coming into adult society after being homeschooled is rather difficult for some people. You may find yourself lacking essential tools that you would normally have acquired in a standard school setting. I would strongly suggest that you choose not to be homeschooled. 1stsergeant Wed, 09 Apr 2008 17:18:48 -0700 http://www.funadvice.com/q/choices_choices 305154
