If I have 300 sq feet of yard how many yards of dirt is needed to cover at a depth of 4in

The above answer is correct. I double checked.

Yard can mean a cubic yard, which is 3 x 3 x 3 = 27 cubic feet. To find out how many cubic feet you've got, just convert inches into feet (4/12 = 1/3) and multiply by the area in square feet.
