World will end in 2012.

According to the Aztec calender the world will end in 2012. I was just wanting to hear opinions on the matter. I know all about the aztec and mayan so you dont have to tell me anything about them because I already know!!! Just want to hear opinions on...

That's not actually true. Many doomsday prophets are saying that the Mayan calendar predicts the end of the world in 2012, but really all that might happen is the rollover of the Mayan calendar.

The Mayan calendar measures different units of time, and the longest measurement, the Long Count, rolls over every 5,125 years or so. The Long Count has rolled over many many times before, even according to Mayan belief, and there's no reason to think that this rollover will be anything special. The funny thing is, we aren't exactly sure where our calendar lines up with theirs, so it's very possible that the rollover already happened.

Actually that is a false misrepresentation of the calendar.

In their TRUE beliefs, it is not the world that will actually end, but the age of materialisim. They believe after 2012 that we will move on to be a more spiritual society, vs now where we are very materialistic and define our self worth on the value of the things we own.

There are very few living that understand the full meaning of the calendar, but those that are alive are essentially disgusted with the way the American population portrays it to be the end of the world, as this is not what it means however we continue to deny their truth and spread our stereotypes.

That's only when they're calendar ended, so they saw it as a spiritual breakthrough.And it's the Aztec calendar NOT THE FREAKING MAYAN!!![ to some person here, not you ].

lol, I've herd this theroy through many of my friends and I tell them all the same thing- if you where to make a calender of 2009 only, dose that mean the world will end in 2010? and no god will decide when the world ends that power lay in the hands of man- what I mean is will man kill himself, or will man destroy his habitat, ext... and becides we all know the world is definitly going to end in another 5billion years because the sun will explode and burn us all to ash! (been proven by science, rather then this apocolypse predicted by a fictional character in a book called 'the bible')

in my opinion I think that its the beginning of the end if that makes any sense I dont think we will see the end of the world I think it means thats when all hell breaks loose type of thing

I am so sick of people thinking this crap! This question has been asked a dozen times, and answered over a hundred. The WORLD doesn't end when the Aztec calendar ends. The AZTEC CALENDAR ends, when the Aztec calendar ends... nothing more than that.

Its no different than when December 31st becomes January 1st.

The Aztec calendar is just one of the many calendars that were based on the Mayan calendar. The Mayan calendar is the progenitor of the 2012 craze.

Very simply put, the guy making the calender died, and no one else in his society knew how to count. In all honesty NOBODY, nor any entity knows when the world will die. When it's time it's time. So enjoy the time you have on this planet.

It wasn't the Aztec calendar it was the Mayan colander. All but 4 of their temples were destroyed so who is to say that it really was the end of their calendars?
theecowgod, in Mayan culture each of them had to write a prfoit when they hit a certain age. Not everybody but a vast mujority did know how to count. They are people who were obsessed with time.
Their profits keep coming true, more clear probably even more accurate than Nostradomas. They just keep coming true.
the end to them many other cultures usually mean a new beginning, depending on the cirumstances of coarse. but you never know.
I doubt it will be the end in general, but a huge change in the world. It will be tragic might seem like the end, but in a way it will be, the end of one erra the beginning aof another.
