Typically, working class and blue collar are used pretty much interchangeably. That is, those without college-educations working in the labor and service sectors are defined as working class.
Politicians, of course, love to bandy about that they're working hard to serve the working-class voters because it is assumed that they require more assistance and compassion than someone who is working in an office. This is ignoring the fact, of course, that the typical plumber is making $50 an hour.
