Sweetie your dog will be just fine! Spaying and Neutering are very common procedures and veterinarians perform them everyday! The vet will check the puppy to make sure it's safe to do the surgery. They take all precautions, before they do any kind of surgery, that requires Anesthesia! It's normal for you to be worried! If the vet suspects that your puppy would not be safe to do the Spay or Neuter on, then they will tell you it's not safe and will not do it, for whatever reason! Size doesn't really matter! All my Chihuahuas, I have #15 now are Spayed and Neutered. I have #9 males and #6 females! I had another Chihuahua named Gigi that was also Spayed, but she died last August from Liver Disease, that she got from a drug called RIMADYL, that she was given by a vet for a Broken Leg! Some of my Chihuahuas are smaller than the others, my smallest weighing 3.4 pounds and they all came through it just fine. They are sore and uncomfortable for a while, especially with Spays, because the surgery is more involved, but the vet will give you pain medication for that, which will help! Just have either a Crate or Little Bed all comfy, cozy and warm waiting for your baby to recover in, when you bring him/her home! Just try to keep your puppy as quiet as you can, which sometimes can be hard to do, because they recover so fast and are up trying to run around before you know it. You need to not allow your puppy to jump on or off furniture of any kind and I'm sure that your vet will give you more instructions before you bring your puppy home! You doing the right thing and the most loving and responsible thing that you can do for your puppy! You are eliminating the chance of your dog getting certain types of Cancer, you will not have to deal with a female in heat or her getting pregnant by another unfixed male! Your Chihuahua will be much happier and healthier in the long run! Chihuahuas are tough little munchkins! Good Luck! Try not to worry! Your baby will be fine! You are going to fall so in love with this puppy, just like I did with mine, the second you pick it up and hold it!
