Wicca

Jcrod Asked by jcrod 3 months ago, 15 answers.

I in no way want to convert, but I am tired of people saying I don't know anything about Wicca. Indeed I don't. I don't know if wicca is a man that plays with magic. Please tell all of us that are wondering about your beliefs, so you don't have to tell...

us we don't know anything about them.

It's Wicca, if you don't know, don't bother answering.

And we say you don’t know anything about the belief because you really don’t.
Ill tell you about Wicca since that is the one that you asked about, and no, I’m not a Wicca, but I know just as much as a true practicing Wicca.
Wicca IS a NEW aged religion that draws it’s practices from ancient peaceful practices from Paleolithic religions.
How the name was originated, no ones for sure. People will claim that it came from Witten, which meant wise, I fail to see the connection, and highly doubt that to be the case. Some will came that it was originally pronounced Witcha, thus the double c’s, and that’s how the word witch came about. That can be argued against. Though Crowley brought it back with one C, misspelling it, his claims was that he had heard the word spoken, so the pronunciation should of at least stayed the same. There was an ancient cult called the (spelling it how it sounds) Ha Wikkas. They weren’t like the wiccans of today, they lived in Celtic territory thus did practice sacrifice (before you dismiss them as evil because of that, might I remind you that the biblical religions also practice sacrifice. It says in the bible itself that it had got so bad one night that the streets ran red with lamb’s blood. In the bible Women * even children Infants were sacrificed, so just remember that before you dismiss them as satanic real quick), The Ha Wikkas were slaughtered when the roman empire moved upward into Celtic Territory chased the Celts off ,the Ha wikka stayed thus were slaughtered. It was recorded by an ancient philosopher if I’m right. But really, none of the modern practices. In my personal belief, I believe that Crowley just simply started a new religion under an old name.
It’s a loose religion. Each Wiccan usually worships a God AND a Goddess to worship, each needed for a balance. They worship they praise the earth. They mostly practice white magicks, healing magicks, and seership, along with geomancy, airomancy, piromancy, and hydromany( earth magick, air magick, fire magick, and water magick), the basics. They will mostly use tools to help inhance their focus. They’re mostly passive people
Most of them follow the wiccan rede, a poem, most commonly believe to be published by Adriana Porter 1910
It Reads:
Bide within the Law you must, in perfect Love and perfect Trust.
Live you must and let to live, fairly take and fairly give.

For tread the Circle thrice about to keep unwelcome spirits out.
To bind the spell well every time, let the spell be said in rhyme.

Light of eye and soft of touch, speak you little, listen much.
Honor the Old Ones in deed and name,
let love and light be our guides again.

Deosil go by the waxing moon, chanting out the joyful tune.
Widdershins go when the moon doth wane,
and the werewolf howls by the dread wolfsbane.

When the Lady's moon is new, kiss the hand to Her times two.
When the moon rides at Her peak then your heart's desire seek.

Heed the North winds mighty gale, lock the door and trim the sail.
When the Wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast.

When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss you on the mouth.
When the wind whispers from the West, all hearts will find peace and rest.

Nine woods in the Cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow.
Birch in the fire goes to represent what the Lady knows.

Oak in the forest towers with might, in the fire it brings the God's
insight. Rowan is a tree of power causing life and magick to flower.

Willows at the waterside stand ready to help us to the Summerland.
Hawthorn is burned to purify and to draw faerie to your eye.

Hazel-the tree of wisdom and learning adds its strength to the bright fire burning.
White are the flowers of Apple tree that brings us fruits of fertility.

Grapes grow upon the vine giving us both joy and wine.
Fir does mark the evergreen to represent immortality seen.

Elder is the Lady's tree burn it not or cursed you'll be.
Four times the Major Sabbats mark in the light and in the dark.

As the old year starts to wane the new begins, it's now Samhain.
When the time for Imbolc shows watch for flowers through the snows.

When the wheel begins to turn soon the Beltane fires will burn.
As the wheel turns to Lamas night power is brought to magick rite.

Four times the Minor Sabbats fall use the Sun to mark them all.
When the wheel has turned to Yule light the log the Horned One rules.

In the spring, when night equals day time for Ostara to come our way.
When the Sun has reached it's height time for Oak and Holly to fight.

Harvesting comes to one and all when the Autumn Equinox does fall.
Heed the flower, bush, and tree by the Lady blessed you'll be.

Where the rippling waters go cast a stone, the truth you'll know.
When you have and hold a need, harken not to others greed.

With a fool no season spend or be counted as his friend.
Merry Meet and Merry Part bright the cheeks and warm the heart.

Mind the Three-fold Laws you should three times bad and three times good.
When misfortune is enow wear the star upon your brow.

Be true in love this you must do unless your love is false to you.

Wiccans hold 8 festivals.
I’ll describe the major to keep it short

Samhain, the near year holiday(also known as Halloween)
Celtics believed it’s when the barriers of this world and the other word became thin, the spirits decent to the underworld(back then there was no heaven or hell, it’s just where the spirits went when they’re dead), the new year, the Goddess’ decent to the underworld(thus the winter, for mother earth has left this world and journeyed to the underworld, or other world), and Pan’s (god of corn) birthday.
A lot of the Christians practices reap their holidays from the Pagans(as the wiccans had adapted them as is, with few alterations) . Your Christmas was originally a pagan’s holiday. It was the rebirth of the Sun God, after he laid dead for three days in the earth(sound familiar, yes, your religion reaped that from the ancient pagans too). It’s called Yule, Yule being the winter solstices, when the days gradually became longer from that point on. It celebrates rebirth. And the Yule log is also burned on this day, obviously.

Easter being Ostara. Ever wonder how the coloring of eggs and the easter bunny came about on Jeusus’ rebirth? Well, it’s not the rebirth of Jesus at all, it doesn’t state when Jesus was reborn, the Christians altered this holiday in order to get more people to convert. This holiday was about Ostara, the goddess of fertility. Also the unity of the male and female aspects. The Rabbit being male, egg, of course, being female.

Beltane(my birthday too ^^) falling on April 30th- May 1st(depending on the year). Mostly known has the hand fasting of the lord and lady (god and goddess), also marks the end of the cold winter weather

The practitioner of Wicca are called WICCANS
Nothing else,
not witches, not neopagans
Pagan, Celtic, even witches are completely different things from Wiccans.
Do don’t get them mixed up.

thex13thchild pretty much summed it up
thank you jcrod for making an effort to learn a little bit about wiccans, and thex13thxchild I was wondering if maybe next time a person asks about wicca and tries to make an effort, if maybe you could be more open and accepting and to politely explain the beliefs to an inquiring mind, not act kinda...well...rude, I've seen other comments of yours and I would just like to point out that this is not the first time jcrod has made an effort to atleast not damn me to hell but to try to listen, so please be nice to those that are trying.

A shorter version of the Wiccan Law is:

Bide the wiccan law ye must,
In perfect love and perfect trust.
Eight words the wiccan rede fulfill:
An'ye harm none do what ye will.

What ye send out comes back to thee,
So ever mind the law of three.
Follow this with mind and heart,
Merry ye meet, and merry ye part.

It is a religion that was one of the very first and still exists today there is nothing for anyone to ague about or criticize if you don't believe in what they teach then go back to your religion and chalk it up to one of the hundreds you don't believe there is no need to fight or be rude in any way.

Wicca was no where near one of the first religion, and you shouldn't claim it to be. Pantheism was the first, nearly all modern religions are rooted from it. Wicca is an off branch. Modern was discovered by Garald Gardener round 50 years old. It's a modern religion under th guise of an ancient name.
